ggg's defense has declined under sanchez as well, only reason he gets away with it is his level of competition. gassiev hasnt exactly fought a murderes row either although to be honest i havent seen enough of him to give a fair assessment.

sanchez is one of those guys good at detecting talented fighters and stroking their egos. as far as training them goes he just does maintenance. i have never seen a fighter improve under him, as mentioned its usually the opposite.

I don't. Sanchez is a GOOD trainer. He keeps his guys humble, hungry and imposed his will [style] onto them. His guys are generally supremely conditioned, know the game plan and know what they're doing.

Having said that, he leaves some stoned unturned, or redirects the attention to other areas. For example, I do not see much defensive improvements from Gassiev over the last year or two. He still walks forward, eats a lot of jabs and likes his short hooks. In itself, that's not a bad style - it's a little Tysonish. But Tyson had amazin head movement in his prime.

Or look at Golovkin - if you watch him early on in his career, he had great defensive instincts ALL the time. If you look now, he's more comfortable exchanging. While that is a viable strategy, that makes less of a complete fighter. If he faces off with a bigger puncher, or a bigger guy with a great jab (Ramirez and Callum Smith come to mind, but their jabs are mediocre), he'll have no answer for them.

And I'm not saying Golovkin is a bad defensive fighter. He does a lot of subtle things that make him a great defensive fighter, but he is not consistent, and he doesn't prioritize defense enough.

In short, I'd like Sanchez to be more of a complete trainer. You can't fall in love with what you do well, you gotta have a bit more balance.

How about ingle or Sims. Does the trainer have to produce champion after champion? Or improve a fighter the maximum that can be done? If you don't have elite fighters come to you does that suddenly make you a bad trainer?
