Is Abel sanchez the best current trainer out today?

Two world champs. GGG and gassiev. Gassiev was a no body and he made him a world champ with no real amateur pedigree. Refined ggg's style into the pros. On top of that, he's trained multiple world champs and hall of famer terry norris.

It helps that they both punch like a mule kicks.

I don't know if Sanchez is that good, but he clearly isn't bad. Doing something right.

I'm pretty sure no matter who Golovkin trained under he would still be unbeaten, and it seems like none of his fighters are good with defense

            sanchez is decent at best.

norris and his brother were made champs by their father and youth coaches. sanchez is what held norris back as a pro, under sanchez his defense declined and he was overly aggressive resulting not only in KO losses but DQ losses from hitting downed opponents. sanchez only made these issues worse.

ggg's defense has declined under sanchez as well, only reason he gets away with it is his level of competition. gassiev hasnt exactly fought a murderes row either although to be honest i havent seen enough of him to give a fair assessment.

sanchez is one of those guys good at detecting talented fighters and stroking their egos. as far as training them goes he just does maintenance. i have never seen a fighter improve under him, as mentioned its usually the opposite.

It's not like Sanchez is an Alchemist (turning sh.t into gold) but Golovkin had the raw materials any trainer would drool over. Still Sanchez knows the game of boxing and more importantly knows talent when he sees it. That's what makes all of it work for Sanchez. He's an excellent trainer with a good knowledge base of the sport.

Golovkin would probably be great under almost any trainer, so i'm not sure. It's not like Golovkin appeared out of nowhere, he was an excellent amateur.

Same with Virgil Hunter, i respect what he's done with Ward all his life but if Ward had gone to another guy from a young age, i still think he would be a great fighter, he is just gifted although has obviously worked hard too. I've never really seen anybody else improve that much with Hunter.

Kovalev got better after he left Sanchez. Not saying Sanchez isn't a good trainer but a fighter needs chemistry with their trainer
