I don't believe this fight will ever happen. Cotto doesn't want to drain himself. After he fought Pacquiao, he said he would never sacrifice himself for a fight like that again.Comment

The Kirkland fight is more attractive in my opinion. It doesn't do anything for Cotto's legacy but at least you were guaranteed action. Cotto's on his way out so how is this last year in boxing going to determine whether he strengthens his legacy or not?
People look at Márquez and Cotto and automatically think if they put two and two together, it's a recipe for success.
Let me put it as plainly and explicitly as I can:
How is a fight between Márquez and Cotto more attractive style-wise or even competitive? Márquez is 43, inactive since 2014, has taken a lifetime's worth of punishment in the Pacquiao fights alone, and is going to be outweighed by Cotto who is a boxer puncher himself. Cotto will NOT move down below 154 (and that's being generous to Márquez). I don't know about you, but people complaining that Cotto/Kirkland fight was not going to be competitive are going to be in for a rude awakening if this fight is signed.
But whatever, fellas.

I love to see the fight but in reality this fight does little for Cotto as far as getting credit by the "fans".
If Cotto KOs Marquez, he will get no credit, if it goes the distance and Cotto wins - no credit - going the distance vs an old man. If he looses, you will never hear the end of the critics.
At the end, Cotto wins either by KO or decision all Marquez has to say is that there was something wrong with the knee or something else and Cotto will get no credit.
Either way, I got Cotto by late KO/TKO over Marquez.Comment
