i am very surprised that maidana couldnt catch the **** early on.
having watched the fight again, maidana was bullying the boy and hitting the boy but, nothing really clean until rnd ten,11 and 12 by which time his shots were far less crisp and carried less weight.
it was the luckiest win for the boy other than the gomez or limond escapes.
garcia layed it out for any and everyone....just keep swinging in the big hands from either side and its all finished for the boy.
one minute its brook...then garcia...then floyd mayweather....what a total mug.

You also have to keep your #1 spot.........great point! How long has it been since he beat a legit 147 contender?? Alexander?? Unless you count Algieri, a fight he nearly lost........

I agree he should have to beat someone noteworthy to keep his spot while he's out shopping for a payday until Garcia v Thurman is over..........

No 'extra points' for getting KO'd at CaneloWeight given it was only for the $$.......though I do give him props for trying.......

But that doesn't affect his standing at 147. Collazo, a horrid to watch fight where he laid on Collazo pushing his neck and back down any time he got close, then the feather-fisted Alexander and Algieri, the latter of who he nearly lost......and he made no attempt at finishing Alexander though there was no threat.

He and Bradley have a score to settle from 140........Porter is tough as hell......and Spence would absolutely separate him from his senses while also out-boxing him........he beats any of them and he can be #1 contender in any sanctioning body......but he won't. He'll play it safe until he gets the winner of Garcia-Thurman......and he'll lose.......

Bigger problem is, then what? 154 is no cake-walk and Brook will likely be there, still waiting and at that point, likely the A-Side or at least 50/50........assuming he chooses to go to 154 without fighting Spence........

I think Spence and Brook are the two best WW in the world though Thurman has done a bit more to earn the #1 spot.......it will be interesting to see how Garcia deals with the movement. He didn't do well with Peterson....but he is very solid and patient. But not swarming like Porter. I hope Thurman mixes it up with him so we can see some good action. But Thurman could make it an easy fight if Garcia doesn't use better lateral movement..........

I am very late to this thread but. It doesn't matter that Khan dominated the fight and then got caught. The results will show Garcia beat Khan. Much like Tyson dominated Douglas. No one will remember that.

The eye socket ends up not going, and the fight likely ends up like Golovkin-Ouma, with Brook having far more fight left in him than what Ouma had left.
Brook was done, he was getting hit cleanly towards the end and was wobbling on the ropes. His corner did him a favour by preventing him from getting brutally ko'd

Sorry should of clarified. Should of said UNLIKE Tyson vs Douglas. Because Douglas dominated the fight and got caught in the 8th but got back up.

khan woudl be a great, great boxer if his opponents weren't allowed to hit him back. he's spot on, here!

Late as well, I love it though, still after all these years Khan's best argument vs Garcia was basically, "I was winning till I wasn't" if Khan says himself he didn't take Garcia seriously or etc, why does it matter that he won 2 rounds?

**Khan probably says the same nonsense vs Canelo. Never understood how "I was winning till I lost" seems to be this great argument a fighter sticks with.
