  • Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia Return Eyed For June on SHO, 3 To 4 Fights in 2017

Last weekend, Mikey Garcia thrashed previously undefeated Dejan Zlaticanin with a three round knockout to win the WBC lightweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight was carried on Showtime. It was the third world title for Garcia, who previously captured WBO belts at featherweight and super featherweight.

Linares (if he wins), then Pacquiao, Broner, or Crawford @ 140! Mikey should choose whoever brings the most dough @ 140!

Good plan. Would be great if he actually fought 4 times.

All good news to my ears. Mikey has always been fun to watch.

Linares is fighting Crolla, Easter is fighting Cruz. So who is currently available for him in the Haymon stable at lightweight? Mikey didn't get injured in his last fight, so they're looking for fights that are immediately available.

Why should Garcia move up to 140? What if he wants to unify all the titles at 135. Funny how everyone needs to move up except for GGG

Should push to fight before June if he wants to fight 4 times, mid May would probably be ideal.

He obviously does not need much time off coming off the Zlaticanin fight but all his fights may not be so damage free so the more time he kind of wastes coming off that fight hurts his chances to be able to fight more when he actually needs to recover a bit.

That should give Linares enough time to recover and train for Mikey, unless he gets cut really bad.

... Mikey Garcia's only seemingly set relationship is with Showtime: why would he fight Pacquiao or Crawford, knowing full-well that Bob Arum is beholden to HBO?

Mikey Garcia's next fight, according to what Robert Garcia has heard, is being eyed for June and in the Los Angeles area.

The Linares-Crolla winner in June (the fight sticks in LA if it's Linares, but could possibly head back to Las Vegas for Sky Sports and Anthony Crolla), the WBO champion (likely Terry Flanagan) in the early Fall, and then closing out the year/opening 2018 at 140lbs (either eyeing whomever emerges as the WBA/IBF/IBO champion on the Showtime side of the fence, or targeting a top trial horse at the weight, like Richard Abril).
