  • Comments Thread For: Russian Lawmaker Vows To Fight For Rights of Alexander Povetkin

The doping scandal surrounding Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin was "a provocation," said Mikhail Degtyaryov, a lawmaker who heads the Russian lower chamber's sports committee. "The provocation against Povetkin exposed the fragility and weakness of the anti-doping system," he said late Tuesday, adding that Russian athletes have been subject to "double standards, frame-ups and attacks."

Oh boy. F#ck this guy first off.

But fair play even a guy popped for PED's deserves a defense, but there has been speculation about this guy, he got popped for a questionable substance & now he's got popped again. Maybe just maybe there is some sort of conspiracy going on with this whole thing (personally I've seen more of a thing with 3-4 fighters who've beaten Russian/Eastern Euro fighters coming up dirty post fight in that region of the country, one having gotten off cuz of how sketchy the testing guys/procedure works there), but occums razor says if it walks like a duck & it quacks like a duck...twice its a f#cking duck bro.

Eh.. Iīll wait for the B sample results before commenting on case Ostarine (donīt know much about that stuff), but the Meldonium case was just a bullsiht amount of a bullsiht "PED" that gave Wilder an excuse to run for the hills and WBC took ages to give any ruling. I donīt know if thereīs any conspiracy, but itīs obvious WBC prefers to have a US HW champ.. so, Pov might be "popped", but not twice.

Be a man and say he is a drugs cheat. This is quite simple dont use any protein shakes or drugs and you be okay.

Russia has been doing drug taking since the world war 2

Now that's speculation. Not that you couldn't be right. They needed a 'proper' US HW champ after all the Klitschko dominance and the Brits being ahead of them too in recent years.

Call the first situation whatever you want. I see it as more of a technicality he got off than he should have gotten off & I'm sure the WBC has taken a similar opinion which is why he was put on a testing protocol that got him popped again.

And maybe more importantly to me it shows an intention to use certain types of substances to improve his performance which I believe to be a lifestyle for some athletes of which I believe Povetkin to be one of...unless you assume he has a legit heart issue & if thats the case I'm wondering how he's able to be allowed to fight.

And sh^t man fair enough if any of these guys wanna use PEDs & accept that risk to their livelihood. I'm well established around here as a guy who's ultimately pro-PEDs. I wanna see how far science can take athletes & I believe eventually it'll be impossible or near impossible to detect usage &/or it'll be so main****** to enhance your body no one will care that athletes use them.

As the rules are & as the rules should be with more 24/7/365 type testing doe I think guys caught should be punished like the powers that be mean it. As such Povetkin is probably a guy who needs to be out of the sport or at best should be out of the sport for a year or two upon this situation being proven as a non-inadvertant usage situation.

Fair enough. To make my position clear: in non-violent sports, I donīt really care whoīs using and whoīs not, and in combat sports all I really ask for is same rules for everybody. All fighters should be under VADA or WADA year round - or no testing at all. Problem is, some fighters would be willing to risk their health (and the opponentīs) to win so I say OST for everybody. What really pisses me off is the double standards around here. Obvious example: Browne pissed dirty and most were accusing them Russians (clen isnīt really hard core but still better than meldonium). Popped again, and itīs mostly crickets. And I know Russians arenīt exactly saints when it comes to PEDs, especially their organized program for amateur athletes was bigger than anyone expected. But still, same rules for all and Iīll have no complaints. And no, Iīm not Russian.
