but if what you said is true, White's choice would likely be.....

"I will either fight Mayweather next, or retire..... your call Dana"

White HAS to work with McGregor, or he will lose him anyway

    something > nothing

regardless as to the paperwork, McGregor regards himself as a contractor, not an employee..... so it is highly unlikely that he will allow White to treat him as such

from what I hear, McGregor works fight-to-fight with White

that fight happening completely depends on whether McGregor is offered enough money, and that will depend on..... Mayweather
Its not that simple , if he lets Connor go on with the circus fight then all of his fighters (some of them believe they are the best and should be paid as such) will get a jealous REALLY fast they will go ape about McG making so much money vs a boxer while they get pounded and grounded with 4oz gloves for 50K a night , it will break the stable , if it happens you will see more fighters trying to do the xover fights for the big payday , and if McG knows a little how to box but will get embarrassed anyway by an ELITE ATG what will happen to the other UFC guys trying to do a 1 time Xover fight ? its a bad precedent for Dana and i dont see him do it , they already played poker once and McG lost and came back like a little boy, Dana knows the brand is the most important thing and stars come and go.
If you think McG will just retire and give up on the pile of money he can still make you are giving him too much credit , as i said before it tried to bend the UFC before and failed as they excluded him from the main event when he acted up.

Also setteling a case is not that simple as well , Americans judges can go crazy and rule in favor of the UFC not only about breach of contract but future earnings (brand is damaged) and stuff like that , its way more complicated then just paying a fine.

It seems like the cleanest out for McGregor would be to hope the Ali act can get him out of his contract, and then make the fight with Mayweather. The problem with this approach, though, is working through the legal mess could take years and Mayweather isn't getting any younger *and* the iron is still hot with both Mayweather and McGregor's popularity.

I'm curious if any attorneys who frequent this board have an idea based on legal precedent, if any, what damages McGregor would have to pay UFC if he breaches his contract.

I know conor is under contract with the ufc so if he breaks out of it, he'll prolly get sue correct?

so why don't conor just breaks out of his conor, fight Floyd. make his money, then use some of that to pay off the fee for breaking out of his ufc contract? im sure he'll still have plenty of money left over.

Floyd brought this up with PAC knowing that the negotiations is with the other promoter.

Not sure if Floyd is serious about this fight because he knows he should be
            Talking to Dana.

Hell, Floyd himself is a promoter and would not let any of his fighters do a fight without him involved. Smh how people fall for the same tactics

All the talk about Dana, well Dana offered a number to stage the fight so its not whether the fight can happen but about how much money its going to take to grease all the palms.

They wont walk away if the profits are there, money to be had is just too big for this one.

Probably the most complicated and expensive mismatch of all time.

If he fights without the UFC's permission, whatever 10x his highest pay is, best believe the UFC is getting the Lion's share for breach of contract. Ask GSP what's good as far as the UFC and contracts.

This isn't Dana's first rodeo... he flat out owns Connor's ass if it has anything to do with combat. The only way we see him fight Mayweather is through the UFC promotion period, or waiting until his contract is up. They groomed him into what he is today and you can bet your ass they locked him up.
Correct. They don't care how big Conor is. They won't take any shit from a fighter no matter who it is.

Mayweather/McGregor need to settle on the money, and then offer White an ultimatum..... he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

and imho, they should go for his throat.....

Mayweather has made no secret of the fact that he wants to promote MMA, and Conor is his ticket in the door..... Mayweather's first MMA event could headline the best MMA fighter in the world.

                    read this in McGregor's voice.....

" Dana..... take this step-aside money while I fight Mayweather..... take this HUGE multi-million dollar cheque, for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING..... so I can fight Mayweather, before permanently returning to the UFC.....

                    ..... or.....

..... I will retire from the UFC, form a partnership with Mayweather, and we will become your competition and worst nightmare

                    ~ love Conor
                    "

when has McGregor ever underplayed his hand ?

he has no love for Dana White, and they could simply settle the lawsuit

White HAS to work with McGregor, or he will lose him.

If McGregor gets a big enough offer, it becomes possible..... and that will depend entirely on Mayweather.

Remember..... back in 2010, Mayweather offered Pacquiao 50/50..... he did that because Floyd knew that fight was huge.

Even at 40%, McGregor could write the UFC a cheque for 20mil and he would still take home more money than he earned during his entire MMA career.

McGregor just confirmed everything I said yesterday.....

I doubt The Ali Act can help McGregor circumvent his contract with the UFC. The Act makes references to boxers and McGregor signed the contract not as a boxer but with the UFC. He's just talking and in the end if he wants this to come off without a lawsuit he will have to negotiate with White. Without the UFC McGregor would have been unknown and not be talking about a Mayweather fight.
