It remains to be seen. But I guess if we are looking at the current value of GBP if it was on the market I don't feel super confident it'd bring in $100M.

I ultimately think Oscar loves boxing (unlike many great boxers who never seem to know much about other fighters realllllly) & GBP is more about his love of boxing & desire to have some sort of lasting positive impact on boxing & its not a money thing. That said idk that I believe Oscar has the personality to be anything more than the money guy & the guy smiling & saying a few words at pressers in that business. I think that he could make a more intimate impact with individual fighters as a manager or trainer, but certainly it wouldn't make him as broadly known, popular & powerful as he is in the promoter world.

Lol well of course he did. Looking back at it now, it was a disastrous blunder. Paul Gift exposed that GBP = Canelo Promotions. If Canelo decides to leave him, Oscar is heading back to rehab.

If he had sold out he'd probably have been out of the game for several years via a non-compete clause.

When the UFC bought out Pricde the owner had a 7 year non-complete clause before he could start his new MMA outfit, Rizen. I'm sure the current owners of the UFC got non-compete clauses for the Fertitta brothers & Dana White already signed for once they are all officially out of the new UFC.

There are 2 kinds of owners who get involved in sports. 1. The owner who cares nothing about it and just buys it for the bottom line to invest cheap and then cash out once it's profitable and they get a good sale price. 2. The owner who is already rich and buys in just to be involved in that specific sport. Oscar is that. He's a life long boxer who wants to continue being around the sport and having a influence on the sport so why sell the brand he created that allows him to do that? Oscar doesn't promote because he has to financially he does it because he likes it.
Golden Boy Promotions has basically been in existence for 15 years at this point, and Oscar De La Hoya could only be bothered to care about running his shop for just these past two year.

Compare that to Floyd Mayweather, whose company has been in existence for about a decade, have been actively running their own shows since 2012, and Floyd has been involved in his company from the moment they were running their own shows.

Oscar doesn't promote because he loves it; he promotes because boxing is the only thing he knows or is any good at.

Showing up for pictures don't mean you running it. Oscar and Floyd just the faces of their companies they hire people to run the day to day. Ellerbe runs the show for Mayweather promotions. Schaefer ran it for golden boy and now Eric Gomez runs it. Gomez was promoted to president of Golden Boy last year but that's a formality he's been running the company much longer since Schaefer was forced out.

"Haymon offered to purchase Golden Boy Promotions for $100 million in 2013, according to a Motion in Limine filed by the Haymon Defendants. Haymon’s motion is an attempt to keep arguments and evidence of this offer out of the upcoming trial, claiming it has “no bearing” on Golden Boy’s damages or liability theories." - Bloody Elbow

All he had to do to stay involved was say ok I will take 85 million and keep 15% ownership, plus I get a stake in any guy I bring to the table and want to be involved in those guys like Canelo. Considering the effort that was put into making GBP a powerful brand Haymon and company likely would have been willing to deal because it wold have saved them a lot of time and effort they had to redo later in PBC. Oscar is a ****** because they both could have won and got what they wanted it wasn't a zero sum game.
