you are going to see the same cotto from cotto-margarito 2. kirkland moving forward closing the gap, cotto fighting off the back foot, using angles to engage and slip out. stick and move. but kirkland has the ability to close the gap and have his opponents engage. going to be a good scrap while it lasts. im a fan of both, but i hope cotto wins out in 2017 and rides into the sunset. what an outstanding career. i will be there ringside at baby jerry world.

I agree with this assessment. To state the obvious, one major difference between Margarito and Kirkland, though, is the chin. Cotto might be able to stun Kirkland with a jab and finish him off quick.

However, I think that if Cotto is not responsible defensively (which is not something you associate with Freddie), he could be trouble. Kirkland packs more of a punch than a plaster-free Margarito. Cotto showed a great chin against Canelo...which surprised the hell out of me...but who knows? If Kirkland bum rushes Cotto like he tried to do to Canelo, will Cotto be able to set him straight as quickly as Canelo did?

Obviously, Cotto should be a big favorite, but I would not sleep on Kirkland.

We are going to see if Kirkland learned anything from the Alvarez fight. I know he can put a hurt on Cotto, but unless he hurts Cotto early or has picked up serious boxing skills, Cotto wins.

If I am not mistaken, Kirkland has won 11 of last 13 fights. He won 10 by knockout. He can hurt people. I believe Cotto will win, but I would not play Kirkland cheap.
