Since beating Stiverne, Wilder has fouhght 4 times in 2 years, 2 of those opponents can be best described as journeymen, one can be best described as a once decent heavyweight now long past his best and the remaining, Spzilka has an ok-sih fight. Apart from the Arreola bout, he's had tough, back and forth battles with all of them. So not only is he not fighting noted opponents, he is not doing as well as he should against seriously subpar opponnets.

He was set to start the year against another nobody and that guy is likely to be replaced with yet anothern obody, so why not call Furys posisble bluff? Why use the excuse that 5 weeks is too long for him (his own words) even though he is fighting in 4 weeks anyway. It's sad.
He was 1 day away from fighting Povetkin last year and Povetkin ****ed that up, then he had a fight and broke his hand and is just now coming back.how can you possibly be blaming Wilder?

Why did it take a year and half of him holding the wbc belt to even sign on for the Povetkin fight?

That fight eventually not happening isnt his fault but its hardly a positive for him having not fought anyone else of note. Why not enter genuine negotiations to fight Parker, AJ, heck even fat Ruiz or you know, someone of note in the entire division. Like I said, his best defence is Spzilka. Why not jump in for a negotiation with whyte or chisora, both would be better than the bum he was supposed to fight and the bum he will likely fight now.

There is no excuse to not fight a single notable name, as so called champion, in 4 defences.

AJ in his 3rd fight as IBF belt hodler is fighting a legend, Hayei n only his 2nd ifght in the division fought the largest heavyweight champ of all time, Wlad since winning his first IBF belt, fought 4 or 5 top 10 names in his first 6 defences, Chagev after beating Valuev for the WBA, in his 3rd fight fought Wlad, Povetkin who isnt even a belt holder, in his last 6 fights has fought 4 or 5 guys who could all be in a top 10...I could go on and on.

Wilders run has been abysmal at best.

Wilder literally has one credible win in 37 fights, I see some of the people that criticise Brook's resume making all kinds of excuses for Wilder. Heck some people that criticise Golovkin's resume defend Wilder and even though I don't think GGG's resume is great, it's night and day compared to Wilder.

Worst part is that he doesn't even blow away his cans, I agree with the OP (and I usually don't) Wilder needs to find someone credible to fight next.

The Povetkin situation definately wasn't his fault.
