I agree that punch stats are flawed. A sole reliance is almost always a flawed policy. Numbers obscure as much as they reveal. And as far as punch stats go most of them are inaccurate to begin with. But just because they can't tell us everything, it doesn't mean that they don't tell us anything. All I'm saying is that the punches matter most and that's where the focus should be. That's different to saying just tally them up and decide based on that.

Why do posters use videos like these that are clearly doctored and made by disgruntled fans mad that the guy the like lost?

I assure you most judges share your point of view, yet these kinds of decisions will always be apart of boxing....well I could be wrong perhaps the criteria will change and they may introduce instant replays for questionable falls, and fouls lol!

yes bad decisions prob won't go away but that doesn't mean we can't analyze whether or not it was a good or bad decision. seeking out more information=hating, crying, etc...hmmm ok

if you do not shoot , no matter how good you are at defense, u loose.

Points are counted by the shots landed/ per round.

This means you can hit me 10,000 times in one round and if I hit you once in the next 11 rounds but you don't hit me back, I will win the fight by rounds even if you hit me 10000 times and I only hit you 11 times.

That said, Kovalev won that fight and the Ward guys can only excuse Ward by saying that it was a close fight.

It was not really, this is the first time in my life that the Champion is the one who has to look for the fight in order to win, WTF?

In the criteria of clean punches landed: Knuckles contacting the skin.

                Slaps are not allowed.

                Lowblows are called.

                Consensus of the Video:
                Kovalev: 155 punches landed
                Ward: 79
Wards punches wer girly at that

I don't know what they did, but I do know why they did it, which compromises the validity of the video.

I had kov winning the fight 114-113. If some ward fan produced a video "proving" Ward won I'd give it the same respect I give this video. None.

We don't need doctored, slowmo, BS crap from some loser.

Thats right as hard to accept that its true - you see a display of skill for twelve rounds throughout the fight NOT ONE but twelve trumps brute force ; the sweetscience.

It's the same guy that Spoon uses for his slomo nonsense. Honestly if compubox was as inaccurate as these slomo videos suggest then I'm certain it would be scrapped and then maybe this slomo guy could get a job with HBO to count punches for them, would probably pay more than whatever he's doing right now.
