It's true, he's completely delusional when it comes to his own limitations and his own father time boxing career, however, Roy Jones is one of, if not thee best and most informed commentator in the sport.

Almost every time you watch a fight commentated by Roy Jones, the guy will tell you what is about to happen over the next couple of rounds and it will happen exactly as he said it would.

I remember the Crawford vs Gamboa fight, where they (Lampey and Kellerman) asked Roy how he thought the fight would play out, and Roy said that that he expected Gamboa to dominate the first four rounds because of his superior amateur pedigree, claiming that fighters with that kind of amateur pegigree tend to dominate the first four rounds of fights.

He then said that he expected Crawford slowly take over the fight and eventually dominate after that.

Guess what, it happened exactly like that. So yes, I'm not surpised about what Max said, Roy Jones has a very keen eye and a vast amount of experience and knowledge when it comes to boxing. He's the man you want to commentate when a big fight is on because he provides some of the best insight.

that's the thing you're all missing. he did not quit.

quitting in boxing is easy. all you have to do is turn your back and stop. the fight is over. brook may have "looked like he wanted to quit" to you. he had a broken face, after all.

it's an objective reality that brook was stopped by his corner. you, roy jones, whoever else can sat that he "looked like he wanted to quit." that doesn't change the reality that he continued to box until his corner retired him.

jones was wrong if he thought brook quit in that fight, because he did not quit. he can speculate all he cares to. it's an objective fact that brook kept boxing until his corner retired him. he did not quit.

Brook should have been fighting the top guys 5 years ago he's 30 nearly 31 and has one quality win. He's old enough to have fought his way to a Mayweather, Cotto, Pacquiao, Hatton super fight.

There has been US names like Berto, Ortiz, Guerrero etc around for ages for him to have built a US following.

He has the talent but maybe not the belief. I believe he took the GGG fight because he thought **** I am going to miss out on that 1 million plus pay day because I don't think he made a million for the porter fight.

He needs to stop running after Khan.

Brook could fight Garcia, Thurman, Pac, Broner, Canelo, Liam Smith loads of good money fights for him.

They are prize fighters and will go after the biggest available payday especially if the risk is lower.

On the flip side Brook wouldn't take a fight against Chavez or even Vargas. I doubt he will take a fight against Spence

brook didnt quit against golovkin, i see how a novice fan would think so but he didnt.

he was in more trouble than some may realize and was trying to weather the storm. although his eye was f#cked up bad and i dont think he recovered fully from the bodyshot yet it wasnt just a case of being hurt, he was confused. he was trying to buy time and find an answer to how he could turn the fight around, but the reality was he just wasnt big enough to keep golovkin off.

as far as fighting spence goes, i will give him a pass for fighting khan.

its a bigger name, bigger money and he just doesnt like khan and wants to knock him out just for the sake of it. it would elevate his career a lot with hardly any risk involved. also, while the spence fight isnt going anywhere, you dont know when khan gets slept next and the fight loses even more luster or khan retires altogether.

if its not khan he needs to fight spence though. you cant fight jojo dan, frankie gavin and kevin bizier back to back to back using the mandatory as an excuse and then not fight spence when he is your mandatory. you just cant.

I have some sympathy for Brook. He probably has no further interest in 147 except for the Khan fight. But he can't drop the belt because that will give Khan the excuse to be an even bigger dickhead in the negotiations. So he's sort of stuck.

Khan really is a horrible dickhead though. I'm glad the pinnacle of his career was that win over a green Maidana. Every time he's in a relative position of power in making a fight, we get an insight into what it would have been like if he had really made it big. An absolute wanker, literally and figuratively.

Brook just wants to cash out now and was hoping that getting beaten up off by Golovkin was somehow going to get him a big noney fight against Canelo, Cotto, even Khan, anyone but a (relatively) high-risk/low reward Spence!
