Just look at the math doe.

Throw Manny $20M. That means the PPV needs to bring in ~$40M just to cover Manny with the distributor getting approx. half of the revenue. Assuming a $70 price that means they need to sell 571k PPV's. Something like 3 of Manny's last 5 fights haven't reached that 571k PPV number.

And they are specifically speaking on Pacquaio vs Crawford. Crawford has one sh^tty PPV under his belt that sold under 200k & to hear some people tell it sold like 65k or whatever they claim. So this fight lives or dies on Manny. Plus Crawford is gonna need to get paid 4M-5M himself which pushes the PPV number up to 685k-714k buys just to break even with Bob & his staff working for free on this one lol.

Fair play for Manny or anyone to get paid, but the dollars gotta make sense & idk that handing Manny $20M with his current PPV numbers makes sense from a business standpoint & thats what matters. Doesn't matter how many wars who've been in. Doesn't matter if you're a HOFer or won x titles in x division. Its what have you done for me lately. And lately Manny doesn't deserve $20M wired into his account for any non-huge money fight before any PPV results come in.

And I imagine neither got much of a clue about the business of Manny. So wtf do they really know about the incoming money & current appeal of Manny?

And not to say that they are wrong in their take cuz they could be right, but based on the current math I'm seeing with Manny's PPV appeal & this next one not even being a PPV fight it appears, I just don't see how a promoter can be throwing $20M for a HBO or HBO caliber fight or a PPV that'll do 300k-ish give or take. $20M/Gtd paydays should be for the guys commanding 1M+ PPV fights on the regular or for fights that are virtually guaranteed of reaching that number.

Robert garcia is a former world champion and his brother mikey garcia is also a former world champion. I'm pretty sure he knows about promoters and the buisness of boxing.

Pac has the right to demand 20 million. Most of his guarantees since 2009 have been in line with 20 million . And his contract likely states it.

He has nothing to prove. And doesn't need Crawford. But he's willing to take the fight. Bob doesn't want to pay it though at the moment.

Yea he's taking less for lesser opponents.. but it's likely not ppv. He's a part time boxer and I think he genuinely came back from his 'retirement' because he enjoys boxing and likes training.

He basically doesn't care who he faces, he just likes to box.

Good post. There just isn't $20m in that fight for him.

20 million seems a bit arbitrary. Does the fight sell well enough to justify that guarantee? I think Arum is within his rights to decline the risk of heart doesn't think so.

It's not a fight that has to happen. But at the same time the passing of the torch is important. Every generation needs to build on the glory of the previous one. That win does a lot for Crawford. A loss won't make much difference to Pacquiao.

I know who Robert is. I know who Mikey is. I know neither have been in deals like Manny & Arum have had for a decade or longer at this point. They in theory know as much as Arum & other top promoters have forgotten about the business of boxing in practice.

And I mean just actually consider the math of the discussion beyond the emotional opinions of both trainers that seem to say Manny deserves $20M cuz he just does lol. Opinions are one thing, but its hard to argue with the math. Either you hate Arum (& I'm no fan of Arum if you look at my past posts & my good posts about Arum generally come with a "usually I'm fast to sh^t on Arum, but this time...."), you're being emotional about the subject or you don't understand the math if you think Manny deserves $20M guaranteed for Crawford.

And don't be confusing this with I'm saying Manny shouldn't get $20M at the end of the day. I'm just saying Manny shouldn't get a guarantee of $20M. Maybe Arum & Manny agree on a $10M guarantee & the PPV does crazy numbers & Manny makes $20M off his PPV points & ends up with $30M.

Well this is Manny's fault. He tries to be the "victim" in everything and that he can't understand English or something. Hire a ****ing translator.

He used an independent financial group to investigate where his money went and learns that Arum is RIPPING him off Y E A R S ago. What does Manny do? Fires the independent firm and signs a lifelong extension w/ Arum.

Now Manny is crying that he should get $20 million for fighting anyone even though Bradley 3 was a disaster PPV and HBO wouldn't even air Vargas on REGULAR HBO let alone HBO PPV. Oh, by the way, that event was also a disaster.

Now Manny is fighting Joe the Plumber instead of Crawford because..."he fights for the people" even though he is actually fighting for MONEY and avoiding certain guys over MONEY.

All of this aside, remember 2 weeks ago when Manny wanted to extort ~$60 million of Phillipine tax money to host a JMM 5 fight.

What a hero, this Manny Poochman. What a fraud.
