Canelo is hardly a puncher.

His feet aren't the best but he's a strong guy and he'll get some nice KO's on opponents he outclasses. He has a good style to watch.

Man, Floyd has a hell of a personality even if he's probably not entertaining and fun outside the ring, but the way he built his career and resume is perfect. I don't even know what I respect more - his skills or the way he handled his career

A lot of fans were watching his fights just to see if some new talented guy is able to stop his win streak and humble Floyd, yes he was saying that he's the best all the time but NOBODY was able to prove him wrong, that's where a lot of Floyd's popularity was coming from, and he was defeating them guys easily, adding HOF names to his resume like ODLH, Cotto, Mosley and so on. He was looking untouchable and that was the main basis of his popularity, the question is the next guy can stop his win streak was the main intrigue in his fights.

Canelo doesn't even have similar skills that make him look untouchable, he's winning long boring competitive fights with his CEMENT footwork and on top of this, he don't even speak English, if that guy is the biggest star then boxing is ****ed up big time

If you ask me, I think that Crawford and Lomachenko supposed to be the 2 biggest stars in boxing right now, they're probably not entertaining outside the ring either but at least, that'd be fair to the sport

Anti-charisma maybe. His success and his personality is enough to get eyes on him. He's polarizing and draws enough attention to get people to watch. He has more personality than most boxers.

This may rile some feathers, but boxing fans are always looking to replace yesterday's hero. Mexican fans are looking for the next great Mexican fighter and they're backing Canelo with **** personality and all. Black fans are constantly on the hunt for the new slick trash-talker. I'm not even knocking it, it's a really natural [and flawed] thing in boxing...in anything, in politics ********s and **********s find ways to support their own no matter the lunacy. It's all about affiliation.

And tbf, Canelo has no English-speaking personality, but maybe he garners better affection when he's speaking Spanish. I can't say, but he can fight, and he has great support. His success can't possibly be explained in one reason, he's certainly positioned himself well with some solid wins. If there was another Mexican fighter with better wins, that guy might be the star instead. As of right now, I think Canelo is holding himself back by not even bothering with English.
