Comments Thread For: Liam Smith vs. Liam Williams Showdown in Play For April 8

Former WBO light-middleweight champion Liam Smith is close to agreeing a fight with unbeaten British champion Liam Williams. Smith further enhanced his reputation with a resilient performance when losing his title to Mexico's Saul Alvarez in September, but is prepared to fight promising Welshman Williams on April 8 instead of returning against a more beatable opponent.

That dates interesting, wonder if Warrens putting on a big card, all his main fighters, see Flanagan and Saunders are on it, Parker/Fury? Did the Boxnation/BT Sport thing start yet? Showcase card to get things going

Quality fight. Not sure who to pick. Really like Williams but Smith is a good fighter. Smith probably got a bit of backlash for his **** defences and getting the Canelo fight, but he is good. Pushed Canelo at times and got a few digs in.

Probably edging towards Smith right now, but not confident at all. Has all the ingredients this one

Good fight, the sort of fight that both men need.

Great fight i predicted this would happen before the Canelo fight, obviously was going to lose that, and i think he'll lose this one as well.
Liam Williams is very good IMO, big jump up and maybe a bit too soon, but i think he'll take this by SD.
