Source? Because that fight happened due to Guerrero schooling and effectively blinding Andre Berto.

Floyd wanted to fight Berto from back before the Ortiz fight, but when Berto lost to Ortiz, he had to face Ortiz. Now, Berto gets handled by Guerrero, he had to fight Guerrero.

It wasn't until Berto got on a win streak that Floyd decided to fight him.

    Source? Because...

Feints, counters, infighting, low blows, showboating—and that's just what it took to get Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao into the same ring. An exclusive, behind-the-scenes look reveals the the six-years' war that went into negotiating boxing's richest bout.

    You're blocking out history, son.

Floyd took the Maidana fight because Maidana had just schooled Broner. He's on record as that being the reason why.

With comments like this you should give up watching boxing as youre not seeing anything.

Berto would stop Jeff Horn right now, maybe not in 5-10 fights for Horn, but now Berto sparks him.

And Manny will have no trouble stopping him either, is this going to be Mannys first KO in years and years the great 17 fight Jeff Horn ,, wake up and smell whats under your nose.

Steve Upsher Chambers (who had lost 2 in a row going into the Berto fight)

Before that Berto lost to Soto Karass and Guerrero.

        Get your fights right...Berto wasn't a threat...Floyd-Berto was a horrible PPV

Horn ain't a proven fighter...but we all know what Berto has done in his career. To conclude Berto would stop anybody is nonsense..

Berto lost to Ortiz, Guerrero, Soto Karass, ..and he should've lost to Collazo... lol ..

Horn is a bullshyt name...but to bring up Berto in this debate is ******ity IMO.

To be honest I have no real idea of who Horn is either.

I thought he was some gay **** star.

Good cumback fight for Floyd if he is...

Uncle Bob trying to make Pac look good with a KO win. Sneaky "bazturd" trying to set up something big down the line. Probably trying to hype a Pacquiao/Crawford fight at the end of the year.

Pac & Bud probably on board to try and milk this one for all it's worth. We maybe looking at another trilogy unless Pac gets sparked badly.

                Boxing is big business...period!

                Oh yeah, Jeff who?

                  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prior to fighting Berto and/or before Thurman had a belt, can you name who Floyd ducked or cherry picked?
Berto was a last hurrah for Floyd and unless you are blind it was NOT a clinch fest.
As for Lara, Floyd has fought at 154 only three times in his career. He was forced by Oscar to fight at 154 because Oscar was the bigger draw then. He fought Cotto at 154 because Cotto was NOT only a draw but a formidable opponent who plied his trade at 140,147 and now 154 so there were no size advantages at all.

You can't answer a simple question: Why hasn't Manny fought a legit WW since he beat Mosley almost 4 years ago? Why can't he fight Thurman or Garcia or Spence or Brooks or Porter? Why is he fighting BUMS? Berto is a much bigger name and better fighter than Brandon Rios, Jeff Horn, Vargas, Algieri etc so you can talk all you want but you are an idiot for not opening your eyes.
As for TBE, you just called him that yourself in your first sentence so it is something you acknowledge you bloviated and uncouth neanderthal. Clearly you don't know shyt about boxing.

Your problem is, you want every opponent to be a threat. That's fine.

But in the BUSINESS of boxing, you fight threats when it's financially sensible to do so. Not just because couch warriors want you to.

As far as Berto, like I said, Floyd originally wanted to fight him when he was undefeated, but switched gears when he got beat by Ortiz. He then waited for Berto to at least get some signature wins - a belt from Lopez, especially - before going that route again.

It's not about always fighting threats. It's about fighting champions and former champions, which is all Floyd has faced. It's not his fault he's that much better than most of them that they look like bums.
