I think the Tyson who fought Tucker and Bonecrusher could at least box well enough to land on Lewis enough to get him out of there. Probably not outbox him from the outside to a unanimous decision type thing. But the first round of Lewis Tyson showed Mike could get in range and knock Lewis back with a jab, and this Mike was ten times slower than the eighties version. I think Lewis would be hanging on for dear life.

Tyson would have more than enough skill to outbox Lewis . And he did outbox him the first few rounds when they fought so 80's Tyson cant maintain enough rnds to ? sounds illogical doesnt it? Considering we have video footage of both ,and fights like Briggs who rattled Lewis by being aggressive early shows Tyson would potentially be problematic if he brings relentless pressure at least for enough rnds to win...if he wins 7 rnds and it goes to the scorecards he wins . Im not sure everyone understands this . And under Rooney he only lost 10 rnds out of 130 plus ,Lewis cant remotely say that .

To say he CANT outbox Lewis just isnt true , even if they fought 5 times am i to believe Lewis out boxes Tyson 5 times? Nonsense .

They fought and Lewis beat Tyson easily and won by KO. Lewis is slightly older than Tyson. My answer is no. If Tyson had a good night and Lewis had a bad night a Tyson KO win would be possible. Lewis was KOed twice by guys who weren't nearly as good as Tyson. Under normal circumstances a prime Lewis outboxes and KOs a prime Tyson in my opinion.

I think most people would accept he had the capacity to knock Lewis out.

It would take a lot of effort for Tyson to outbox Lewis because of the vast height and reach difference between the 2. I would say prime Tyson boxes well enough to create the openings to land the punches to put Lewis away but he'd have to do it in the early to mid rounds cause he wouldn't have the stamina to keep up his fierce attack for 12 rounds.

You'd have to favour Lewis prime vs prime because as others said, he's built to deal with shorter men, excellent jab, knows how to clinch and a very big right hand, the right uppercut in particular would always be a nightmare for Tyson.

Don't get me wrong... I think Mike was great boxer and KO artist...

But I doubt his ability to 'outbox' healthy Prime Lennox Lewis.
Tyson struggled against Holyfield and lost 2 times.
While Lewis confidently beat Holyfield 2 times. He was clearly robbed in 1'st fight for draw.

Also don't forget Mike is 5 ft 10, Lewis is 6 ft 5

So could Prime Tyson from 80's actually 'outbox' Lennox Lewis at his best?

                  Discuss...
Tyson was a shell of his former self when he fought Holyfield and Lewis a PrimeTyson with Cus and Rooney knocks both of them out

He wouldn't outbox him but he certainly could put him to sleep.
