NO, Hagler never showed at the gym when I was there. I was sparring there two days after HAGLER-LEONARD, though, and the gym was like a MORGUE. Hardly anybody there and those that were were SADDENED deeply... lol except this one guy who told me he won money off the fight, he was serious when saying "MAN, U think Marvin cares if I lose in the Golden Gloves? I bet with my mind not with my heart"

Did Collins ever have any skills?? When we saw him over here in 95-97 he had adopted a hands-down, toughman style of marauding forward and relying on his chin and awkwardness. But apparently he had some skills back in the late 80's? Or was Collins ALWAYS rugged and limited?

He looked at me, looked a little closer and then gave me the biggest smile I have ever seen and he started telling people around us, I don't even think he knew them, that "this guy used to come allthe way to my gym twice a week and spar with me!!" Nobody cared but us lol

            Lol! That pic is funny.

It looks like Steve has done the Ali G thing and put his fist out for "Respect".

You then come along and proceed to try and shake his hand...

            LOL.

Ofcourse, if you judge fights on scrappiness and sloppiness and blue-collarness then Collins gets the decision. But if you judge fights on finesse and quality work, then Eubank wins by landslide.

              I scored it for Eubank.
Collins won the fight quite clearly. He outworked Eubank, plain and simple. Collins took advantage of Eubanks defence-Eubank never had a guard and always relied on pulling his head back away from shots,so Collins countered like a cobra with quick, straight, overlapping punches usually in a quick cluster of three and never missed. Collins was very, very awkward to deal with that night, especially for Eubanks style. He kept catching Eubank off-guard,it was abit of chess match-that Collins won.

Juicy, surely you can have no complains about the rematch between Collins and Eubank. I thought Collins won every round of their rematch, quite clearly. His tactics were spot-on in that rematch,he charged across the ring at Eubank at the start of every round and barely gave him a moments rest for the rest of each round,he rarely stopped punching.

Then, for me,Collins looked indestructable during his supermiddle title reign. He had a weight programme to put some strength on,used science to condition himself better and hypnotists to get him in the right frame of mind. During his supermiddle reign,he walked through punches and had accurate output of his own. Its a shame the Rjj fight never happened.

                  Dude,thats pathetic.

As a 16-fight novice he went 12 rounds with a near-prime Mike Mccallum. Later lost a majority decision in Reggie Johnson's backyard and a split decision in Kalambay's backyard,so he was unlucky. Apart from that,Steve never lost. He was US middle champ,WBO middle champ, and won alot of fights. He was very popular in Boston, and always very well-known in Dublin. Journeyman? Thats pathetic, thats nonsense dude.

Collins lunged in clumsily and made himself look silly. Eubank had a knockdown in round two that the ref didn't count, and the knockdown Collins scored on Eubank in round eight was more of a balance thing (like Ali-Wepner) and then when Eubank had Collins down in a heap in the 10th Eubank purposely stood off when Collins got up instead of going for the kill (Collins' mind games had got to him).

Collins clearly won every second of every round in the second fight with Eubank in my eyes, but only because Eubank had completely over-trained.
