Comments Thread For: Mayweather Willing To Help Rousey Improve Her Striking Skills

MMA superstar Ronda Rousey has been thrown a career lifeline by one of boxing's biggest stars. Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. has offered a helping hand to the former UFC bantamweight champion, saying he is willing to help Rousey perfect the stand up aspect of her fighting.

So, now that's Jeff, Roger, Floyd Sr. and Floyd Jr. -- all the Mayweathers are keen to help Rhonda fight better.

They've all weighed in with the offer. Why? I attribute this to a good trait of theirs -- she's been humbled to hell and they don't feel like piling on. They know she is the worst striker in professional combat sports, by millions of miles and genuinely want to help. Good on them. (It can't be they find her attractive...I sure don't, and I never did get that....)

If I were in her shoes and still wanted to fight, I'd take them up on it. It would be an awesome story -- and she could replace her current sucky trainer.

Of course it means money. She has it. But better yet, it means amazing publicity -- for the Mays and for boxing.

She looked like a complete ass (to me) before her FIRST loss.

It would be huge gulp down on her pride. The basic story here is that the most conceited, prideful person imaginable has been brought crashing down to earth not once, but twice.

But America IS a place for "second acts", and everybody loves a comeback story.

So, here's a more interesting thought: Do you think Rhonda would become a meaningfully better fighter under the Mayweathers' tutelage?

                I do.

Props to Mayweather for trying to put the past behind them and offer help to Rousey.
