He has to figure out how to be more aggressive. Otherwise any top level guy is just going to outwork him.
Broner needs to increase the upper body movement and increase his work rate. His defense will be fine once Broner knows how to put his hands up. If he turns in to a volume counter puncher, Broner could potentially be lethal as he would counter every punches the guy throws in and he would make them hesitant which he could then let his hands go if the opponent doesn't fights back.

With guys like Thurman and Errol Spence dropping their hands all the time consistently in close range skirmish, he could deliver so much damage on to them.

He's not that good a counterpuncher though. That was the big misconception with him. He doesn't anticipate punches well and he has to let an opponent finish throwing before he throws back, unless he's fighting a midget who can't hurt him. But he is an excellent combination puncher with speed, fluidity, and decent power. He just needs to throw a lot more and initiate more action. If he could do that he would be consistently in great fights. But I don't see it happening. He has a confused identity as a fighter, much like Berto, and he will probably remain confused until the end of his career.

You're right. But Broner's hesitation is what causes him to lose against Pressure fighters. His mentality of being afraid to those who fought back is what holds him back. Broner did well against Maidana when he stands his ground and lets his hands go. You would notice that Maidana only does well when he attacks broner when Broner isn't throwing any punches or just backs off.

That's the big contradiction with Broner. What he does best is what he does least. Is the whole thing of being a Floyd imitation that has him fighting this way? Or does he lack the gas tank to be a more active fighter?

Broner said in an interview that after the PDL fight (I think) he realised that he wasn't training hard enough. He didn't have the stamina to handle the pace PDL was forcing. But that was the beginning of a period where he missed weight constantly and started to get fat between fights.

I just can't take him seriously now when he comes out with his annual 'I've grown up' bit. I don't think he will change.

A Waste of talent sadly. I may not like Broner but I want to see his full potential.

If Broner and Mikey Garcia both look good, they could easily make a PPV fight, but I would rather that they take that fight to CBS! Winner fights Crawford in a PPV!

No way that ship has sailed. Years ago when the hype was strong probably but a few bad losses and a lot of drama in his life killed that. Let's face it at 140 or 147 does anybody think he can beat the best fighters? Crawford kills him and he missed 140 anyway his last fight and at 147 lost by a wide margin to porter and porter has been beaten twice by the top guys at 147. Lost to maidana and those were the only good welterweight he faced. Struggle with a old medicare paulie. He looks worse and worse each time he fights will get beat down again by the next quality opponent he faces. Struggling with bums like Ashley and winning a paper belt the fight before because haymon paid for him to get a title shot he didn't deserve against a bum coming off a loss and long layoff impresses no one.

If you were serious about this you'd have to ask what's the best opponent Broner can beat?

At 140 he would need to beat either Postol or Crawford. No way he beats Crawford and I doubt he beats Postol either. At 147, Jessie Vargas? Not even sure about that to be honest.

They asked Broner about Crawford and I didn't like his response AT ALL.

No chance. He could be in a successful ppv fight with the right opponent but he will never be a ppv star.

                      1. Because its nearly impossible for any boxer to be a ppv star in the current market.
                      2. He just isn't good enough. After a certain point, bull****ting and not properly being physically or mentally prepared for fights and living an unhealthy lifestyle, isn't reversible. Broner has some talent and can win titles against certain opponents but he no longer has a chance to be one of the best.

He also has the fat gene problem...he is entering his late 20's now where the fat genes come into play and its harder to shed the weight.
