Isn't it weird that Badou Jack is going to LHW?

I find it strange that Badou Jack is so insistent on going to LHW. Maybe he already have a deal with Stevenson for big money with Haymon or whatever, but it's really strange imo for a couple of reasons:

    1) He did not looked depleted at all
    2) He was incredibly strong down the stretch
    3) He was clearly incredibly fit - and threw more punches as the rounds went on + finished off the 12th superbly.

And this is against the #1 ranked super middleweight in the world.

Doesn't that seem a bit strange?

Negotiating tactics..."I'll fight you at SMW again if the fight is in Vegas and I get a higher split".

Or," I'll give you x dollars per pound and we can fight at a catch weight. "

This fight will happen again because it generates the most fan interest

Well they did say it before the fight win, lose or draw, so there has to be a good reason.

We don't see the training camp so we don't see the struggle, maybe he's tired of it or feels maybe next time might be one time too many making 168 and it will be detrimental to him.

Or possibly they already have a fight lined up at 175.

He did say that before the fight, win, lose or draw, he was moving up to LHW.

Jack was saying he wanted to move up to LHW even before he fought Bute. He's 33, at that age if he's having trouble cutting weight then he needs to move up.

You dont know what that man goes through to make 168. If hes tired of the grind hes tired of the grind. Plus after being robbed you kinda lose desire for a rematch in fear of being robbed again

He's been saying that he wanted to move up for a while now.
I think he should think of the rematch though.

who knows, maybe jacks actually an even better fighter at 175 and he thinks 168 takes too much out of him.

Yeah, he looks big at the weight but showed no sign of being weakened. Possibly cutting down is just so difficult that he doesn't want to go through it again. If the Stevenson fight is already there for him to take it makes more sense, but giving up a belt to move up and fight your way to a title shot with eliminators when you're 33 could be a bad decision.

Callum Smith was up next for him, right? Going for Stevenson on the bigger stage for more money likely appeals more than a Smith fight in the UK (where he might get screwed) or in the US (where it wouldn't draw much money).

Any of those are possibilities and that Jack had to diet for so long/hard to make 168 is also certainly another factor.
