If K2 signed the offer when it was offered, no different than what was done in the build to Kovalev-Ward, HBO/Golden Boy/K2 would've aligned all of their efforts in the name of maximising the build to the signed fight; Alvarez would've fought Liam Smith, a soft touch for December, with a solid fight in May, while K2 would've put up the money to lock-in the Billy Joe Saunders fight, with the rest of the time spent clearing up his mandatory defenses in the run-up.
With no obligation to Golovkin, Alvarez is basically in position to treat Golovkin as any other opponent, weigh-in his name against the other options that would be available at that time.

Canelo vs Chavez @168 would've been a true test to Canelo, but I really don't know, Chavez with Heredia might be a very tough dude even at 164.
But the one thing you can't deny is that Chavez Jr. has a chin and is durable as hell, great preparation for a GGG ifght, I'm in!

2 Hyping more the fight against GGG
3 Earning a ton of money
4 Maximising total income for both himself and GGG.
Guess that's the point of fighting Chavez Jr.

...he's really taking this fight now because he's getting paid like 6x more than Chavez...and that's gonna be his downfall...Chavez has been after him for years, so I know Chavez will really train properly for this fight, and on Cinco de Mayo weekend...this is huuuuge!!! War Chavez!!! Canelo's days are numbered...this will be his biggest pay-day..he don't want to fight those young black studs like the Charlos, Jacobs, Andrade, or much less GGG...it's all about the Benjamins!!!Last edited by BestPR; 01-13-2017, 10:17 PM.

Too, Canelo can choose anyone.
This won't bomb, but I doubt it does that many. It's Canelo with a named fighter, that always does well.
Stop it, Wade was ranked 7 by boxing rec at 160. Chevez is coming down to a weight we know he'll be useless at.
My point again, you hate when Canelo get sick criticized. It's true though, he can make any fit and he is choosing a weight drained Chevez.
Zero reason for this fight other than milk fans. Khan, Smith, Chevez.
Be honest pls.
