Part of it is Abel, part of it are his fans(I don't really see a reason to hate a fighter cause of his fans, but I know some people do).

A lot of it isn't hate though. Saying you want him to fight better competition isn't hate, you just want what you perceive as hype to be justified.

Its because "fans" on here, during the Mayweather ERA, were saying Floyd wasnt fighting anyone and belts meant nothing, then when this white guys comes along, then belts and unification meant something, while his resume was far, far, far worse than anthing Floyd did. And theres nothing but the obvious that brown people have experienced forever to explain it. You cant say because of all the KO's consecutively because wilder had a longer streak in the heavyweight division, and those same people were hating on him and his resume was still better than ggg's, every other fighter would've been accused of ducking Ward, but ggg was not, by these same fans.White people are known for their hatred and racism more than anything because of their history of using it (hatred and racism). And what else explains their flip flopping on things and/or opinions so fast after Mayweather retired, and you see many blatant racist posts on this site. It has nothing to do with Abel. Look at the hate Canelo gets for not fighting someone who is in a higher weight class but ggg gets excuses for doing the same with Ward?

GGG is not so hated as it appears. He's more loved than hated. Don't listen to fools. There are some haters here, just put them on ignore.

Really what this comes down to is fanboyism. At some point in boxing fandom, people came under the impression that greatness is a limited commodity. If Boxer X is great, it must mean Boxer Y is somehow less talented. Assessing greatness, or talent, or skill, or athleticism is not a zero sum game. Acknowledging one boxer's prowess does not diminish the skills of another.

GGG has been exciting, dominate, and shows signs of true greatness - however he's never been tested against an A+ level fighter. Is that his fault? His management team? Other fighters? Promoters? You're foolish if you believe that you know 100% of what goes on behind the scenes - so assessing blame in that capacity is a fool's errand. All that can be said of him is that he has outmatched all of his opponents to date (although I still question the reasoning behind Brook's corner throwing in the towel).

Mayweather is a all time great. He fought some of the biggest names in the sport - regardless of when or what stage of their career - and he beat them all. He's one of the best defensive minded boxers to ever live. Personal opinion on the "excitement" of his fights is left to the viewer, but I for one don't require a KO to be thrilled.

It's just baffling to me that people have such a hard time seeing the top fighters in the world for what they are. It's almost as if a boxer who isn't your personal #1 best instantly becomes a bum. Well no, even if they are the second best, or third, or tenth, or twentieth, they are still one of the elite in this sport. Maybe it's because I have spent so much of my life attending small little local shows, but I can attest first hand, if you've ever seen someone on PBC, or HBO, or Top Rank, or Golden Boy, they have legitimate skill. And just because you like and are a fan of a certain fighter, doesn't mean that others aren't worthy of being mentioned along side of them - and respected - for their own accomplishments in the sport.

most of the irrational hatred toward golovkin comes from black people. same with irrational hatred against floyd coming from whites, pinoys, etc. there's also an irrational amount of hatred coming at golovkin for his matchmaking. you neglect to "hate" the dozen or so contenders who have blatantly ducked him, and blame golovkin for punching so hard these guys and their management are afraid of what he will do to their careers? irrational, girlish fanboysim.,



now, rational hatred of a boxer / athlete doesn't exist, but rational distaste surely does. some of that probably comes from abel, who volunteered golovkin for fights as high as 175 lbs without actually taking them. loeffler, too.

so they hate golovkin because he's the most avoided fighter in boxing? what sense does that make? TS is asking about irrational hatred. can't see any more blatant case of irrational hatred than the most ducked fighter in boxing being "hated" for his poor competition. the guy is world champion and a top 5 US draw ffs. and guys don't want to make career high paydays because of the beating he'd likely hand out, and what it would mean for the longevity of their careers. fighters may not think that way, but management does, and they avoid golovkin for that very reason.

they do the math. they say, "you know, we can make solid money for years fighting cans. golovkin may be the last fight my guy ever takes as an elite in his division, or even a boxer."
