That is correct, because Cuadras never faced his Mandatory, only voluntary fights his whole championship run and while the loser(Cuadras) can sit back and wait for his chance at the championship again without even having to fight, WBC is that way with Mexicans.

This isn't a fight that belongs as a main-event nor does it belong as co-main its a straight up bum fight it belongs in the first few fights of the night, very disappointed in Gonzalez for taking this one It would maybe have been better not fighting at all.

Rungvisai is a tough fighter, ranked mid top 10 by most independent rankings, but RG should beat him. Cuadras is a much riskier fight, as is Estrada and Inuoe. He wants to be paid well for them.
yeah but gonzo was getting enough money for it. 400k or so, thats super star money for small guys lol

anyway im sure the rematch will happen

Big money for a 115lber sure, but not big money for someone who drew 800k viewers on HBO as the headliner.

Being smaller brings a lot of savings, food, clothes etc. The money goes a lot further.

which fight did 800 k viewers? was he the only one of note on that show? I highly doubt it

either way, smaller guys just arent going to get paid that much and gonzo himself realised he isnt worth that much and apologised to the wbc so theres no point in you trying to fight a corner he left long ago

What do you mean by 'that much' though?

He isnt worth a mill like he was saying before (and im assuming what he backed down from), but he is surely worth more than 400k.

His card had a replay of GGG vs Lemiuex ppv (which got 700k or so viewers iirc). So yes there was another reason to tune in, but his fight had the biggest no. of viewers.

The weight? My balls, Gonzalez is a 112-115 natural fighter, he can't make the 112 pounds, and he has 29 years old. Cuadras was in 129 pounds, Gonzalez in 126.

And yep, Ward was exposed look the comments on him after the fight, he looked limited using clinches like a crazy. Gonzalez knows about the danger and he ducked the rematch with Cuadras this time waiting that Cuadras go to have problems in September to make the 115.

                      That's the only answer.
Cuadras is the bigger guy. Its hard to make weight for everyone but gonzalez can make 112. Cuadras wouldnt be able to make 112 even if he wanted to. Gonzalez has fought tons of good fighters, whether or not youre willing to accept it is your decision.
