      i'd pick mayweather. Guy was near on unbeatable in his big fights.

        Leonard was bigger, faster, stronger, and fought in the unquestionably greatest Welterweight era in boxing history. Floyd would not be blocking those 8-10 punch lightning combinations. Hearns would have decimated Floyd. Floyd would have been in a situation where nothing worked for him. Floyd never fights inside in the middle of the ring so when Hearns was landing those blinding setup jabs, Floyd could not have taken the fight inside so this would have been Hearns who was extremely fast using his rapid jab to outscore Floyd and then lowering the boom. Only one outcome, Floyd against the ropes taking a beating and then being dropped hard.

            Hound,
            Now you know i gotta go with me. Floyd without a doubt is the best fighter in his era. It has nothing to do with him being undefeated, but more to do with him beaten the best opposition that he was up against. With that being said & not to take anything away from him. Here is a measuring stick...Who did Floyd Beat that was better than Benitez, Duran, Hearns & Hagler?
            On skills alone they matchup well;

            Speed - sugar ray (floyd was much faster as at 130, 135, & 140)

            Power - Sugar ray

            Defense - Floyd (Leonard didn't have a bad defense, he was more an offensive boxer)

            Stamina - Leonard

            Combos - Leonard

            Jab - even

            Boxing IQ - even

                There's a reason why SRL started at 147 while Floyd started at 130 and kept fighting there till his mid 20s, big size differential plus we've never seen Leonard in there against anyone like 28 year old Floyd Mayweather and vice versa so we can't really say.

                Bear in mind that there was no drug testing in the 80s, everyone was on hardcore PEDs that r definitley banned today by all commissions, that's y the physiques of fighters from minimumweights to heavyweights looked like those of fictional characters and we saw many more 15 round wars with fighters never gassing out compared to now despite the advances in dieting and training techniques, so comparing untested fighters to tested fighters isn't valid.

                  Ray was a natural WW.

                  Most of Floyd's 49 fights are at 130 and 135lbs.

                    Inside fight - Leonard.
                    Leonard would go to war if and when the fight went inside. And he was not some wide clubbing slow inside fighter like Floyd has fought on the inside. On the inside, Leonard was precision and would win the inside exchanges when they fought inside in the middle of the ring, even if those were rare, since Leonard wouldnt walk Floyd back to the ropes and let Floyd try to counter there on the inside, he would keep it center ring.

                    Outside fight - Leonard.
                    On the outside, Leonard opens up combinations that would penetrate Floyd and punish him. Leonard, unlike any fighter Floyd fought would throw vicious uppercuts and catch Floyd in a blur. He could throw hard combinations, soft combinations, and single punches with serious power, a set of demensions Floyd did not have. Mosley and Judah and Corley stunned Floyd. Leonard hit harder and faster and had killer instinct and knew how to finish off a hurt or stunned fighter.
