Golovkin is a rare breed with good boxing skills and out of this world power. He deserves his respect, but part of the problem is that lately he and his team have been whining way too much. I understand why they want to fight Canelo -- BIG bucks and moderate risk. But that fight will not do much for his legacy. The backlash against their constant complaining is such that GGG will have to win major fights at higher weights to win the respect he craves. He should take the $10 - $15 million Golden boy offer, beat Canelo, then challenge for the 168 and 175 titles.

the only name people bring up to **** on GGG is the LHW king Andre Ward, the Pound for Pound best.. if that's the only threat out there for GGG, that's credit to his greatness.
if boxing was operated like UFC the resume wouldn't be in question..guys like Saunders, Eubank and Cotto wouldn't be able to go nowhere but inside the ring.
"Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fight.” - Carl Froch
let's hope Canelo/GGG happens this year.
.......GGG already beat 11 top10, including 5 world champs, 17 defenses so 3 wins more to b-hop's record, highest ko percentage ever among middleweight champs, p4p top 3 in all rankings, never even been down in almost 400 fights, Amateur legend 345-5, olympic silver medal, world amateur gold, AND finally ducked by everyone.
Boxers that ducked/ducking GGG, fyi all of these are/were world champs.
1. Sturm --- wouldn't fight him for over 2 years when GGG was mandatory to him.
2. Quillin --- said he will only fight for the may-pac kind of money, lol + he flew to Haymon to avoid GGG
3. Martinez --- "His promoter said that "no way I am putting him with this monster", GGG kept calling him out after his U.S. debut after every fight
4. Cotto --- ducked his mandatory(GGG) twice by fighting Geale and Canelo
5. Chavez jr --- Turned down 12mil offer by TR for 2 fights
6. Canela --- Avoided his mando(GGG). Thinks that he is fighting at the weight-class of 155, as there is no such thing as a "155 weight-class" ,he is pretending to be not in the MW division because of GGG. There are 17 divisions just pick one, if you can't make 154 then you are a MW, simple. And then he dropped the belt when he had to fight GGG next, wow
7. Froch --- After calling GGG out then when GGG accepted ,he backed down and now he is retired after making all the fuss, + GGG was calling him for more than a year b4 he was retired so no excuses for "retiring". Carl said in a SkySports interview he will swerve GGG like the plague, he punches like a mule and there's no point getting in the ring with someone like him.
8. Ward --- The diva of the 168lb division don't want to travel or meet the a-side GGG in a catchweight so he can become a good boy and get ktfo. Was willing to goto 160 for Floyd but when GGG said 164, Ward ducked + he was fine when Dawson came down a whole division for him but wont move half a division for GGG, smh
9. Saunders --- Even before winning the WBO title from Lee his fear of Golovkin was as biright as day this is just one of many interviews(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJuwAz-ekoQ), then after winning it he priced himslef out at 6 mil$. Then turned down $3.2mill offer from k-2(its 2.2 gbp)
10. Eubank jr --- Very similar to Froch's duck of GGG, after calling GGG out he lost his pen when he had to sign
11. Njikam --- When Hassaan was WBO champ, he was ordered to a purse bid to face Golovkin no less than two times and he was a no show each time.
12. Barker --- When Barker defeated Geale to become IBF champ, his promoter openly said that he will fight any1 except GGG, Golovkin offered to fight him in England practically free, his only demand was for them to give Team Golovkin 10 FREE tickets, Barker ducked.
13. Mundine --- Another blatant ducker, google it.
14. Soliman --- Soliman won the IBF title in 2014 from Sturm, immedietly after winning the title he called out GGG, then GGG fought his countryman Geale. He saw the fight and changed his mind stating he will NOT fight GGG after what he saw.
15. Zbik --- Just like sturm, protected by Universum.

He's favored to win by KO by mostly everyone. If he does something we don't know he could do then he will get credit. We all think he will beat Jacobs by stoppage. Fans give a lot of flack to Jacobs (me included) for the Pirog TKO and the Mora KD. Credit won't magically be given now that GGG beats him after he's been ridiculed for his shortcomings vs other fighters.

So they know g-string doesnt get credit for fighting cab drivers....lol, they should've known that by the fact NO ONE wants to pay to watch his PPV. 35 years old BEFORE HIS FIRST COMPETITION. He still cant change the past, at least they know that we know he faced nothing but bums and RAN from WARD or Ducked him your pick. But that turned out to be a good jog, because if Kitty Kov couldnt hurt him at a HIGHER weight, lil g wouldve got his ass whipped and stopped. That was a good duck, but why hasnt he signed the contract to fight Canelo?

Near all of the criticism of Golovkin lays squarely on the fact that folks like you are trying to crown him the best middleweight fighter to ever put on a pair of gloves, without actually having to see him fight anyone worth fighting.
If Golovkin steps in their with Daniel Jacobs, and washes him in 4 rounds, he'll get the credit for finally beating a guy worth fighting.
As for GGG being the best middleweight ever, we will probably never know how good he was in his prime because all the best guys besides Murray and Lemieux ducked him until they saw him age in the Brook fight. The people saying GGG would avoid Jacobs though, or the people saying an opponent like Jacobs is necessary to cement GGG's elite status in the sport, are ridiculous in a way because GGG already signed to fight the guy who KO'd Jacobs and that was four years ago. GGG's debut fight on HBO was supposed to be against that guy, Pirog, but Pirog injured his back.
Also people are saying GGG needs to beat Jacobs to get respect, because Jacobs beat Quillin, but even that shows bias because GGG knocked out Gabe Rosado who was kicking Quillin's ass before the fight got stopped either to protect Rosado's eye or to protect the PBC's A-side. Quillin was also knocked down by Andy Lee in a draw. GGG beat handfuls of guys on the Andy Lee level EASILY, like Murray who is at last as good, and Lemieux who is better, Geale and Macklin who are similar, etc, and he gets no credit. How does that make sense? And Quillin's only good win is N'Dam but Lemieux beat him even better than Quillin did. Also Quillin may have been on PEDs back then, but not when he fought Lee or Jacobs might be why his chin became so suspect even though vs N'Dam, he could walk through fire.
So it's ridiculous. Jacobs is a great fighter but the people saying he has the best win because he beat Quillin need to go watch the Quillin-Rosado fight before they say anything more. And then watch GGG-Rosado.
Back to the topic of who GGG fought, Froch could have fought GGG too before he retired but instead said you shouldn't get in the ring with him because he "hits like a mule" and you should swerve him like the plague. Sergio could have fought GGG but his promoter called GGG a "monster" literally and said no way he'd put Sergio in with him unless everything was perfect conditions. And the list goes on.
Hell, Danny Jacobs himself said a year or two ago that he wasn't ready for GGG yet. So I don't know how great GGG is all time, but I know the #2 middleweight in the world, Jacobs, at age 28, in his prime, said he wasn't ready to fight GGG yet.
And that's happened a bunch of times. Saunders, another middleweight titlist, said GGG would beat him and Eubank Jr. on the same night. So if I'm just a fan, but that's what other fighters are saying, shouldn't I believe them? It's not like fighters like to fluff up other fighters for no reason. Usually they over-hype themselves, they don't give free compliments to other guys in their division and even say that guy would beat them and another top contender in the same night. That rarely happens and yet with GGG, rare **** like that happens constantly, but you want me to believe that doesn't mean anything?
Regardless, I look forward to the Jacobs fight. I think if not for GGG's promoter shenanagins early in his career, and all the fighters ducking him since then, he would have had an extensive resumé by now ranking among the elite of his era, for sure. But because he was ducked for so long, and he's almost 35 now, he could decline fast at any time now and we may never know how good a resumé he could have had. I personally hope he does nothing but superfights from here on out and that we get MULTIPLE legacy fights before he turns 37, and that way maybe he'll still be at his best and we'll see how good his best really is. But I suspect he will decline before then, so if he can still pull out wins, it will just show how good he was/is, but at the same time, do I think they will be as dominant as they could have been 4 years ago? No, and other fighters know that too which is why they waited this long to fight him.
I mean you can go look up the quotes yourself man. How Danny wasn't ready two years ago. Please, he was in his prime. What it really meant was he didn't need to wait two years, but he wanted GGG to wait two years, and slow down a little. Then he saw the slow down in the Brook fight, and five minutes after that fight is when his trainer, Andre Rozier, called Steve Kim to tell him they were ready for the fight now. That is documented on record so you tell me what that says.Last edited by Boxing Logic; 01-08-2017, 07:10 AM.

but yea, then you lost me
Lemieux was never thought of as great but many thought he had a chance. Now he is a bum.
It was pointed out prior to fight that Murray had deserved the win against both Sturm and Martinez. Never been stopped. Now who is he?
It's somewhere in between. His resume isn't great. At all. But neither is it as crap as many people on here declare it to be.
