Mayw3eather vs Pacquiao did leave a bad taste in 4 million casuals mouths, it hurt the sport bad thats for sure

But this Ward vs Kovalev would have failed even if Pacquiao knocked out Floyd, whot he *** is Ward and Kovalev?

Nobody knows them in the mainstream, Ward has like no fans, Kovalev is only known in Russia, I blame the teams for doing a horrible job of promoting these guys to the casuals.

Putting it on PPV hurt the fight more. Especially when guys like Ward wanted an insane amount of money when he's not even popular.

he's right. I was pulling for Floyd and yes he won but that fight won't be remembered. nothing exciting took place. and of course I appreciate the skills and sweet science and all that, but it still comes down to entertainment ..that fight was not entertaining. but of course to each his own, some folks enjoyed it. but majority of people who tuned in left feeling cheated and disgusted. I don't give a damn how much of a fan you are of either guy, you can't say that **** was worth $100 to watch.

.. the nail in the coffin was the avalanche of Pacquiao excuses that came immediately afterwards. that was a bigger story than what took place in the ring.

as a Floyd fan I saw him yet again cruise to victory against a guy he was clearly superior to..why not press the action and stop him? that's drama, that's money well spent. after a few rounds it turned into a sparring session, Manny was clearly out of his league and Floyd never even tried to finish him. just like he did against Baldomir.

six years for a points win with no drama.. boxing suffered a black eye that night. only winner was Floyd's bank account.

To this day I still don't get it. Were people actually expecting a slug fest in Mayweather vs Pacquiao?

Nope. They expected Manny to show up. Pivots, angles, punches in bunches, lightning fast combos.

When that didn't happen, they switched the blame to Floyd for not taking risks. Despite the fact he was right in front of Manny or on the ropes for 90% of the fight.

Then they saw Manny swinging for the fences and decided to give him a Miz Award, complaining that the judges weren't scoring his (ineffective) aggression.

People wanted Floyd to fight Manny the way he fought Gatti because they knew that was the only chance Manny had at catching TBE with something and beating him.

When Floyd didn't accommodate them, people blamed him for the fight when in reality, Manny just didn't show up.

Agreed. You can literally see the confidence of fighters dissipate when they realise they're throwing everything at him and nothing is landing. It's written on their faces in between rounds, "What do I try next?"
