  • Why Is Everyone Hating On Canelo/Chaves Jr????

I can't think of a single reason why this will hurt boxing, not a single one. This will get the attention of the casuals and both fighter have fan friendly styles, it's going to get boxing the spotlight and it will be an exciting fight.

If I were to hazard a guess, it would be that people are hating on the fight because of the entire GGG/Canelo episode. Canelo saying his body isn't "ready" for 160, etc.

So in my opinion, its mostly GGG fans or Alvarez detractors. Personally, I'm all for the fight. Its a fun fight, its an event, and it'll bring eyes to the sport. As much as I enjoyed May v Pac, it did some damage to the sport in the eyes of the casuals/part time fans.

This is a fun fight, will have a rapturous atmosphere, and will be entertaining. I'm all for it.

I am a huge fan of both Canelo and GGG. I have no problem with the Canelo vs Chavez. It's a big money fight that Mexico has wanted for years. Canelo will give Chavez a weight edge because Chavez isn't as good as GGG. GGG would spot Chavez 8 pounds but only spot Ward 4 pounds because Ward is better than Chavez. It makes sense to me but I guess it pisses off some people.

because its a **** fight.chavez jr will be drained at 165 he cant make 168 without killing himself for ***'s sake he will take a one sided beating before the ref or jcc's corner stops the fight.this is nothing but a pure cash grab.

It's a pointless money grab. I'd rather see Canelo fight a meaningful fight as a fan.

if Chavez Jr wasn't so undisciplined this would be competitive ..but you gotta be a fool to believe he won't struggle to make 165. Canelo will beat the eyebrows off him and stop him brutally. .so the weight for me is the reason to not get too hype for this fight.

That said, I know for a fact I'll be disappointed come the end of the night, because I dislike Alvarez, and absolutely LOVE Chavez Jr. 165 is just a smidgen too much for him to make comfortably in my opinion, and I think Alvarez will beat Jr. Might even knock him out.

But again, it'll likely be a super fun fight.

To answer the question; Chavez Jr is irrelevant (beyond ticket sales) and half of the forum has been programmed to think that they must hate Canelo because they like Golovkin.

I think it's a "whatever" fight. I personally have zero interest but Chavez is big enough that at least it's not Canelo picking on someone smaller. I give it a pass. Same as if GG fought any warm body at 168.

Because it's a really lame fight and is allowing Alvarez to keep ducking Golovkin.
