What is your opinion though, on why bob has thrown him into lions den without building him up first, into a star or half a star?

Is it because Horn gets a massive payday compared to fighting for $20k on a Parker undercard? (Made up figures)

Or does losing to manny actually bring you more fans if you put up a decent fight?

This goes back to a thread I wrote last week. Besides May/Pac when was the last time Top Rank put one of their stars in a 50/50 fight outside the Top Rank stable? People keep saying Brook/Pac is a good fight, which it is. It'll probably make more money in the UK than Brook/GGG. But it's a 50/50 fight with a fighter outside the Top Rank stable. Now they're looking at Burns which would make a lot of money in Ireland. But it's not a 50/50 fight. Pac will be heavily favored. When Arum went looking for a PVC fighter he didn't go after Porter, Thurman, or Spence. He went after Broner. Another fight where Pac would be heavily favored. When Mosely fought Pac he had to leave Golden Boy so Bob could get options on him if he pulled off the upset. This has been the Top Rank way of doing business for decades. I guess people hatred of Floyd left them blind to what Top Rank has been doing forever.

As to why he's fighting Horn, who else is he gonna fight? Like I said, Top Rank isn't putting him in 50/50 fights with anybody outside the Top Rank stable. He knows he can't sell the Bradley fight again. Vargas was the last Top Rank welter with a decent enough name to hold the fight in America. But Vargas isn't a star and you see he was willing to let Vargas fight outside the Top Rank stable when he was supposed to fight Brook. The same for Ruiz. He's fleecing the Australian fans. He knows they'll pay to see the legend Manny take on one of their hometown kids. If you were Australian and haven't had a big name fighter there since Jack Johnson wouldn't you pay to see Pac? They buying Mudine vs Green on PPV so you know they'll buy Pac the legend. He can still make more money off Pac than he can off Crawford that's why he's delaying the Crawford fight until he's squeezed out every lay cent from Pac's name.

What I don't like is that Arum didn't seem to give any consideration in a Brook or Khan fight in the UK.

Easy to deduce.. Arum wants everything in house and didn't want to share any profits with another promoter.

Just read.. arum is aiming to do free to air... non-ppv.... so you can hate the match up but at least they aren't trying to sell this as a ppv.

I can accept this as a non ppv...and hopefully follow it with a big fight later in the year.

Why people keep ignoring Manny and Freddy Roach's strategy of draining fighters, looking for plodding fighters, non-power punching fighters and slow fighters? This has been going on for a long time. Honestly, this why i just can't give Manny any credit. I can't overlook many of the circumstances surrounding is opponents.
