    If Ward retires

Has to go down as one of the biggest ducks of all time?

"I've accomplished everything" Most of the boxing world thought you lost the fight of your life. Avenge it and be a champion.

Dan Raphael in his chat last week said about 75% of boxing analysts had it 115-112 for kovalev. The same score I had.

If not a robbery, it's a stain on Wards legacy.

Rematches are such BS. If you lose, you ****ing lose. Who wants to fight somebody they already beat? How do you get motivated?

It was a close fight. Regardless if it was a robbery or not, close fights are the main reason rematches happen in the first place.

In his column earlier today (about his wishes for boxing in 2017), Rafael said,

"Forget about an Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev rematch. We all know who won their fight (Kovalev). Give me Adonis Stevenson-Kovalev already."

That sums it up for me. If Ward wants to remove the blot from his record (a false win IS a blot), then great. But he's been making it clear, he's not going to move forward. I would expect nothing else from Ward. It's not in his character.

you really have to let it go man, if he retires then Kovalev can get the belts back and the world moves on..Fight was close and not a robbery at all, just because the guy you wanted to win loses a close fight does not make it a robbery..But Ward should honor the damn rematch

Exactly, Ward is already using rhetoric that he's done. Kovalev should move on, I would imagine if Ward retires Kovalev would get the first dibs to fight for the vacant tittles??????

Funny post. Re-matching fights has been a marquee aspect of boxing since the beginning of boxing history. Frasier-Ali, duran-leonard, froch-kessler, I mean I could really go on and on.

If a fight was close(see pacman marquez) and there is a large demand for the fight to be made, a rematch is a great thing. Both sides can make money and the fans are happy that the controversy is gone.

              Frampton-Santa cruz???

I mean, do you watch boxing????????A post such as yours exemplifies such ignorance to the history of the sport.

              SAD.

Might not be that easy this time... He got his belts from Cleverly (LOL) and Be-Hop (LOL x 2)... He would have to fight a top dog on equal grounds for 3 of them, or Stevenson for the other one... I don't see him beating Beterbiev, Gvozdyk would be a hard task as well... Troubled times ahead for the Krusher...

He probably WILL move on fairly quickly. He comes from a very different background than Ward, and has a very different personality. Kovalev isn't protecting a precious "0"; he's a fighter. He isn't someone who sits around for years of inactivity like Ward in order to nurse his pride. He knows he won the fight. He knows that most people in boxing don't believe Ward had a legit victory.

That said, I think Kovalev should pressure Ward publicly, just to twist the knife when Ward really does bow out, puss out, wimp out and retire.
