  • I like Floyd so this is not a dig, but since you asked

    1) Fought Manny closer to his prime (blame to go around I know)
    2) Fought a prime Cotto
    3) Challenge himself in the later years. The Ghost, Berto and Ortiz were the best he could do? (Canelo was a legit win, and a great one, but these other clowns...)
    4) Just to be hypercritical he could have also done more to put on a show. Not necessarily put himself in harms way, because why would he? But he had shown in the past what he is able to do when he lets his hands go. He had the chance to grow boxing rather than be its best salesman. I know its not his job to grow the sport, but thats the point of this thread right?
    5) Fought a prime Margarito
    6) Cure HIV (as previously stated.)

    So that's a start.

    • He could've fought manny in 2009 or 10... cotto, margarito, Williams, anytime from 2005-2009.

Granted he fought and beat many great hall of fame figthrrrs but anyone who says he fought them when they were in their prime is clearly lying for their own agenda. And I'm saying this as a big Floyd fan

Bottom line he was more concerned with $ than legacy.

He is 23 years old. When you say, "prime", I'm referring that to the peak physical conditioning of a boxer, OR, when as a boxer when they were at their best.

His prime years will likely be around 25-28 years of age (or basically, now).

Plus, he clearly wasn't at peak physical condition even when you consider that. He fought at a catch-weight (although that was his own damn fault). That definitely hurt him, even if a little.

Not to mention, skill wise, there is still a great opportunity for him to improve down the line. He's fought a lot of bum fights, but he also didn't have access to the sparring partners, nor the current competition, he faced early on in his career.

        • And I'm not sure how possible it ever was, but Sergio Martinez vs Floyd Mayweather would've been great. I wanted that fight back in the day

Manny...Cotto...Margarito...all have one thing in common.....Bob Arum.

Those guys were never going to beat Floyd...just accept it.

Tony couldn't even hit Shane...Floyd would have made him look like he was fighting underwater.

I know you hate Floyd but it's time to move on.

            • Floyd could have challenged himself post Oscar but it's his life and he is still an ATG. Everyone will be nitpicked

Larry he was a beast pre Oscar post Oscar he took on the least challenges. You can claim undefeated and champ of this belt but fact is no one did sh it after fighting Floyd and why?? Because they werent that good to begin with that's why. The fact that you can't see that he took the road with the least risk baffles me

                • He's definitely a ATG 1st Ballot HoF fighter, but I do wish Floyd would have challenged himself more.

Pacquiao 2009-2011 would've been a better fight. Wish it would've happened then because the win would've meant a lot more.

Sergio Martinez fight would've been awesome. That would've been a legendary level challenge, like Duran fighting Barkley or Hagler.

Tszyu around 2003-2004. Ndou, Corley, Bruseles instead of a fight like this? This time period he didn't seem to fight the top guys, but a lot of the guys on top at 140 at this time he ended up fighting later.

Casamayor or Spadafora 2000-2002 would've been a cool fight, but I can't really let this detract from Floyd since he was still fighting pretty good competition (Corrales, Castillo).

                    I posted allot of FACTS.

You highlighted an opinion, that was supported by those facts, and responded to that one single thing.

Respond to the entire thing, because those guys really aint do what Floyd has done, and I dont see it being possible for others to do what Floyd has done.
