People might respect Ward more if he said Kovalev had given him a title shot and now the ex-champ deserved a rematch. Also Andre might add that he wanted to put all doubts about his win to rest and win the rematch decisively.

If you cannot see that Ward always wants everything slanted his own way, then you need new eyes. Yes, he has absolutely stated he wants the lions share of the purse, just like he got more in the first fight. He'll get judges he wants, just liken first fight, and so on. The guy is a massive fraud who is great at spoiling, he lost the first fight - but was gifted the other mans belts by virtue of potshotting a few body shots and hugging like some clamped on needy girlfriend. I doubt he will ever fight again, but my hope is that Kov gives him everything he asks for and then knocks the **** out of him. Then he can disappear- he's bad for the sport.

Contracts not to work have a time limit on them, or they could be ruled unenforceable. I believe Mayweather "retired" for exactly a year to avoid giving Dela Hoya a contractual rematch.

Ward will beetch for as long as possible to keep the pretense he won the fight and when April comes he will sing the Canelita songs "Not enough money, not enough this or that ...... " and retire. Ward's character is that of a charlatan.
Now for the rematch (if it happens) mostly only Kovalev's fans will want to watch it. Ward got very small fan base, with the robbery belts even fewer will he attract. That's why robberies in boxing are bad for boxing.
I think judges who rob fighters should be punished severely. An independent boxing body/commission should be established to review contested decisions and come up with their own. (I guess they are not ready for justice in the boxing world yet.)

Ward is a business man and realizes that at this point in his career and age he doesn't have much time left to maximize his earnings.This is why he's angling for more money. Not because he's scared. Let's not forget Duva stated Ward wouldn't get a rematch if he lost. Other than Adonis, Kov and maybe Bute/Pascal at LHW who else can he fight and make a lot of money. So basically go to Canada and fight Kov again after that the paydays are slim pickings. Degale says he makes weight comfortable, GGG not moving up and if he does it'll be SMW. People really need to look at the business side more before commenting.
