Comments Thread For: Frank Warren Eyes Zolani Tete vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux

Promoter Frank Warren has big plans in store for Zolani Tete (24-3, 20 KOs) of South Africa. The talented boxer, who previously held the IBF super flyweight world title, is now in the bantamweight ranks and looking for more gold. Tete made his bantamweight debut in March of this year and stopped Jose Gonzalez for the IBF International title.

Now this would be a real treat, especially if it were to take place in the UK. I'm sure moving up to super bantam will be no problem for a guy as big as Tete. I just hope Rigondeaux and his team will play ball in negotiations and then actually show up on fight night. Facing Flores and Tete would be a big year for him, his biggest next to 2013. If the fights start getting made now and his skills aren't already too far diminished, he may end up in the IBHoF yet

This all happened before, Tete mentioned Rigo, so Rigo offered the fight, and then Tete said no thanks.

THE bypassing of Zolani Tete for a WBO bantamweight title shot in favour of a boxer he beat is raising eyebrows back home. Rated third in the bantamweight, Tete has been passed on for the title in favour of Paul Butler despite the fact he knocked him out in eight rounds when they fought for the IBF junior bantamweight title in March last year
