The version of Glen Johnson that Nard fought was absolutely green as hell. Look at his resume going into the Nard fight. In his first 32 fights, Johnson fought about 30 guys with 500 or less records. That version of Johnson would've got killed by Lemieux.

Joppy was done after Tito. He should've lost to Eastman, then he fought a Japanese guy, then Don King had him sit out for 14 months prior to Hopkins. Even prime Joppy wasn't that special, he made his name beating an old faded Duran.

Strongly disagree with you on Joppy & Johnson, that's why I didn't list them with Eastman, Holmes, Allen, and Echols. Those 4 were better than the versions of Joppy & Johnson that got in the ring with Nard.

Hopkins made 10 million to Oscar's 30 when they fought, what kind of draw is golovkin to demand more? He's a nobody in the sport...as much as his fans would like to think otherwise.

their guarantees were 25MM & 9MM, but both had PPV upside.

hopkins had fought for 350K the year before. so his drawing power then was nowhere close to GGG's drawing power now.

GGG is going to sell out MSG as the A side in march. hopkins was never that level of attraction.

the only reason people say 160 is "weak" is because Golovkin is destroying opponents ..if he was winning by decision nobody would tell him to move up. the division was also "weak" during the reign of Bernard Hopkins but nobody urged him to go up because he was winning on points. .if Trinidad and Oscar never moved up to 160 nobody would remember who Hopkins was..two small guys moving up is what made him known. .Jacobs, Lemieux, Murray, Geale, Stevens, Monroe, Brook are all solid opponents.

Not only were they smaller men but Oscar got beat up by Felix Sturm only a few months before fighting Hopkins. Delahoya was given an enormous gift decision against Sturm because if he would have lost, then the Hopkins fight wouldn't have happened and the boxing business people would have lost a lot of money.

Everybody thought Oscar lost to Sturm. He looked horrible in that fight and was pretty badly beat up. People talk about robberies on this forum....THAT was a robbery.

Trinidad was a decent win but he was the smaller man and he was definitely a plodder. He never amounted to much at middleweight.
