Jacobs explained himself well in this article. Golovkin didn't 'let' people hit him, ie just stand there and stick his chin out, but he didn't manage the distance so that he could get in range to throw his own shots - so ate some, as you will if you stand in the pocket.

He'll manage the distance and pick his shots more carefully with Jacobs like he did with Lemieux, so good that Jacobs expects that and is not assuming he'll have the same Golovkin as Brook had.

GGG has one of the greatest amateur records in history. He has seen all kinds of styles and his ring IQ is so good that he will make adjustments on the fly, no matter who he is fighting.Many infer that Golovkins defense is porous because he got hit so much, but that is a fallacy. Gennady wasn't thinking about looking good; he was most concerned with what it would take to end the fight.What we understand is that Gennady Golovkin is a thinking fighter who completely understands his limitations. Golovkin is a terrific blend of physicality and processes strengths, weaknesses and a counter attack quickly and accurately. Instead of lying to himself and thinking Brook was getting lucky, GGG almost instantly figured out that Brook's hands were much faster than his and he wasn't making him miss with many leads or follow ups. Here you are saying he has nothing. And yes GGG has let past opponents hit him, obviously he also gets tagged... Every boxer does!!! GGG will get rid of Jacobs within 4 rounds unless he wants it to go longer for the fans!!!
