I agree with your premise that Murata's opposition hadn't been horrible for so few fights but you might want to cool it bragging about him KOing 29-3 Nascimento, who was 36, has a ridiculously padded record made in Brazil and has been KO'd every time he fought an opponent in the top 100 in his division. Other young fighters have fought better opponents in their first fight, let alone third. Shibata, the guy Murata debuted against, was probably better.

Give me some names of any recent middleweight champion fighting guys with similar records at the beginning of their career...and by middleweights I mean starting at middleweight not moving up.

Wade & Rose would've been good wins on Murata's record, his 2016 has been ugly. Four meaningless, record-padding wins to no-where.

It's like every year of his pro-career is moving backwards. He started so strong and looked good, then the competition got softer every year and he's looked more and more mediocre.

At 30 years old with an extensive amateur career, he's no longer a prospect. I know they made an offer to BJS for a December fight in Tokyo, but they should've made efforts to get other better comp this year. He could've had wins over Geale or Soliman this year, instead - poop.

Gaston Alejandro Vega, Felipe Santos Pedroso, George Tahdooahnippah, and Bruno Sandoval suck and do nothing for him really! 2016 was a wasted year for Murata. He should've went back to Japan and atleast fought Charlie Ota for a credible win.

Completely ridiculous when you consider the stage of his career at the time he fought them thus rendering such a high ranking in only eleven pro fights so yes they did something for him -- more than a Wade or Rose could do for him now ; hell hes ranked higher than them in some sanctioning bodies now. It appears that any promoter would not see any value in those names other than getting rounds in for Murata ; hes not the typical prospect that would go to the UK and take a risk getting robbed on the contrary as you mentioned team Murata is making the offer to Billy Joe.

I really dont like getting into speculation who coulda shoulda the bottom line the man wanted to fight for a world title before his eleventh pro fight whatever went on with Billy Joe I dont know to be honest : Now if Murata had been on HBO getting hyped like these other euros then I would change my tune...but nobody ever heard of him outside the hardcore...but in 2017 like you I expect him to step it up.

Murata is in a tough position. He's three-year pro in a division where almost all the titles belong to one man. I doubt Arum makes any real moves with Murata until Golovkin loses or moves up.

Until then he's going to be fighting Mid-Rank Middleweights.
