He did fight at light Heavyweight...and how did that go?

The only intrigue about this fight will be Canelo will have to primarily rely on skill to win as opposed to a weight/size advantage.

....but if that punshing bag that will keep moving forward is able to take everything Canelo throws it could be interesting when/if the fight moves into the second half of the fight. Unless Chaves jr is drained I dont think he'll run out of gas but I believe that could happen when it comes to Canelo. Chaves is taller and physically strong, I actually like this match-up.

It'd be so crazy if Chavez pulls the upset, but lets not kid ourselves. Since losing to Martinez and moving up in weight, Chavez has fought 3 guys from MW - Vera, Reyes, Britsch, and struggled with all of them in the skill department and needed his size to get the wins. Now against Canelo, he's going to kill himself coming down to 165? It's great that he's working with Memo, he's going to need that science stuff to help his body.

I wonder who the majority of Mexican fans are rooting for?

he lost to a guy that dropped adonis stevenson, no shame in that, but Chaves Jr is a super middleweight and Canelo is a junior middlweight, there two divisions apart, Chavez should actually be the favorite

I'm not sure how this fight will turn out but we may see a Cotto-Margarito type fight with Canelo winning the early rounds with his speed and boxing and JR coming on late with his size and chin.

I know canelo should be fighting GGG instead but I like this match up and think it'll do big numbers.... Casuals at work already talking about it. I could be wrong but it should be action packed.

If he should be the favorite, are you picking him to win? I would be in for a friendly wager if you are! lol

I hope Chavez Jr gets rid of this GB hype job. CanHellNo Alvarez has been gifted decisions and should have at least one more loss on his record, and arguably a draw on there too. CanHellNo avoids pure boxers for the rest of his career or at least until his manufactured "unbeatable" aura fades. CanHellNo 1,000,000% lost to Lara. It wasnt even hard to score, he clearly lost that fight by dec. Until he stops avoiding the Andrades of the world and other pure boxers who would give him boxing lessons since we all saw how he fared against MW, losing every single round... the fact that he got a split dec loss in that speaks all you need to know about the fact that this boy has the judges in his pocket being a GB fighter. Speaking of split dec's, any real fighter would have given Lara a rematch after the outcry of robbery that followed his split dec win against him. 1) it was a split dec and 2) a crap load of ppl thought Lara won. That is enough cause for a rematch to me. But he is not out to prove himself, he is out to take our money and move on to the next heist that Oscar plans for him. I will not rate or support this hype job as a valid superstar because he is DeLaHoya manufactured and is solely in the take your money business. Hope Chavez embarrasses this loser.
