People who post on NSB, even occasionally, know who Golovkin is. However, to do over 1.5 million in ppv buys and make the kind of money that makes a clear B side turn down $10M this fight needs to be promoted to the I don't follow boxing but will buy a big fight fan. That type of fan does not know who Golovkin is and may not know Alvarez either. Yes, it's a huge fight in the sport of boxing, but it's not significant in the least outside of boxing. That's how you do Mayweather De la Hoya numbers.

Just my thoughts.

I think we boxing fans underestimate what/who casuals know about. Between the Khan and Geale ko's between both fighters trust me even the most casual of fan knows them both.
