I don't care about Andre Ward or any boxing debate enough to let you get away with making racist comments about black people. People who make comments like the "dummygraphic" are intentionally trying to stir up racial conflict and tension based on trivial debates on comment boards. Calling it "trolling" doesn't make it cute or minimize the harmful nature of the vitriol you spew. I'm not going to debate with you no matter how much of a weaselly worm you are. But I'll say this, you're entire Andre Ward weight argument is a deception that has been concocted by haters like you by omitting facts and putting forward information that supports your false narrative. And the one drop rule about black people was made up by white people. Its not a trend. It's just outright racism. White people would never accept Andre Ward as one of their own.

Kissing their asses is good enough for him.

Kovalev could stand to fix some holes in his game if he wants to truly dominate the rematch, even though he had a lot of success in the fight. He did some great counter punching... but he just needs to do more. He needs to improve his stamina, and I think I read somewhere he'll have a strength and conditioning coach FNO.

Exactly. The complete package being the goal... unlike Ward who is still quite susceptible to uppercuts 20+ years into his career.

Ward will win the rematch, he will win it much easier, kovalev is not nearly as diverse in his ability. People will still b1tch and complain...Nothing will change.

Ward won a gold medal at LHW and they try to make pathetic excuses to ignore the fact that Ward drained down to 168lbs to pick on smaller men but because Ward can't bully guys about with his weight suddenly he is ring rusty, not sharp and not a real LHW...

The dummygraphic really are the worst sort of fans in boxing they have no clue at all about the sport, should definitely find a new sport because you certainly don't know jack about boxing.

All three judges scored it 114-113.

Which is more or less what some of us have been saying all along. Kovalev was trying to outbox him to prove a point and he did, it just wasn't clear to everyone. If he turns it up a notch, what will Ward do? He doesn't have many options.

When he is further away from the opponent, he pulls the old Bhop move, namely, jab, jab, right hand, lunge in with your head. It has worked extremely well against all but a handful of opponents. It's why I thought he'd beat Kovalev: too strong and tricky on the inside.

I never expected Kovalev to not only be good enough to counter all his work on the inside (found out he trained extensively in greco-roman wrestling) but also to completely negate Ward's range game. Kovalev was superior in every department.

The only thing Ward can improve is his strength and physicality but he can not add any new boxing tricks to his bag, not now, not on the wrong side of 30 and not against someone as astute as Kovalev.

Also, there's something else I'd like to point out and it's something people realised after the Kovalev fight: for all the hype and everyone talking about how great Ward's physical attributes are (e.g. hand speed, foot speed and reflexes) I said, time and time again (there was a whole thread where I had to fight off like 20 ****** hood**** on this) Ward's natural gifts just aren't that good compared to most top fighters throughout boxing history.

He is very simple to figure out and he gets hit quite a bit because his reflexes aren't particularly sharp and not are his hands all that quick and his feet are often flat not fleet. Kovalev exploited all that. I just wish I hadn't underrated Kovs inside game.

If Kov himself can work on his fitness down the stretch, he'll put a beating on Ward in the rematch...which is unlikely for at least another 6-8 months.

                Great post. Well said.

learn the sport before firing off with your mouth

EVERY knowledgeable insider questioned whether Ward would be ready for the best LHW on the planet after only 2 fights to acclimatize to 175..... including Jackson and Sanchez..... YOU genius!

                      Q. will Ward be better, or worse..... having 1 more specialist camp with Mackie Shilstone under his belt?

don't quit your day job, whatever that could be
Every knowledgeable insider, except the fighter himself AFT, who kept saying that if he wasn't ready for Kov now he never would be. Remember him saying that? Of course you do, it was on these boards...
