Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr: If No Canelo Deal - Then I Want Gennady Golovkin!

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (49-2-1, 32KOs) is weighing up his options for a big fight in 2017. At the moment there are ongoing talks to stage a catch-weight bout with fellow Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (48-1-1, 34KOs). The fight would headline an HBO Pay-Per-View event on May 6th.

Nice counter strategy for Team Chavez to take since GBP is likely lowballing Junior on the value he brings despite his talent level + dedication. Tommy L will give them 2 mill on top of any offer GBP is willing to give plus a handy J post fight probably.

so many other worthy opponents for Canelo to face at 154.. but Chavez Jr is a "super fight" for the sole fact he's Mexican and son to a legend. how pathetic..skillwise he's a C- level talent. .but hey if it makes dollars it makes $ense.

GBP lowballing again. What's wrong with 70/30? Regardless of Chavez Jr. talent or dedication his last name does have some drawing power.. Both Mexican, so they could have the battle for Mexico supremacy.

It's pretty clear he cannot make that weight (Absolutely butt naked last time and a quick up and off) and they decided to move up to 160 for that reason.

Why is this bum going out of his way to target guys in lower weight classes?
