If Floyd Mayweather Jr. wouldve focused his career on MMA?...

Hypothetical question of course, I know Floyds a RETIRED 40yo athlete BUT the buzz between him and MMArtists continues which leads me to my question.

Despite what many people think about Floyd as a person, 1 thing (non-bias) sports fans Im sure can agree on is his athleticism & work ethic. To me this alone makes me think Floyd coulda been great at anything (his height/weight) allowed him to compete in. To me this is something that separates elite boxers from elite MMArtists not all this non-sense talk of if Floyd got into a street fight with whomever hed lose. Personally I think any elite level boxer could make the crossover to MMA if they put their focus to it but I dont think the same can be reciprocated if MMArtist were asked to do so...

    Thoughts?

I agree completely. I remember where he said in some 24/7 "I'm the hardest working athlete. **** boxers, no athlete works harder than me." And I believe him.

His reflexes and boxing defence wouldn't save him in MMA... Totally different sports.

Yeah but despite what most will say boxing is MMA's foundation. Think of it this way, MMA has great match ups, "when they box." Besides, Im talking athletically speaking.

Boxers are great with their hands but clueless when it comes to grappling. Could Floyd pick up wrestling/BJJ and be really good at it in a short period of time? Floyd is an incredible athlete so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd be a fast learner and make the crossover to MMA and be successful.

Why should we care? Why does this matter?
