People don't understand how russian boxing works. Povetkin was always promoted there as a symbol, he never had plans to fight outside, he doesn't speak any language except russian (and he is pretty dumb himself), and belts doesn't mean that much for his team. He is gonna fight whatever his promoters gonna buy him for couple of years more and that's it, after retirement he will become some government official.
Walters on the other hand is on the market, he is not that old (I say he is in his prime or near) and he doesn't have money fights appearing from the air, he must earn it. And with quitting he really hurt his value. He is no Duran, Duran was HOFer already when he quit.

      clearly povetkin.

walters could still come back and prove his metal and toughness in the future. povetkin has been caught so many times i dont see how you could ever look at him as a clean athlete at any point in the future.

while i dont condone quitting, it is easy to sit and say someone should take a slow beating from outside the ring. sharing that ring with loma mother****ing chenko is another thing entirely.

but he did show up to do so, clean and under fair circumstances. i respect that more than trying to cheat someone like povetkin continues to do.

I would have to say Povetkin because no one wants to put their health at harm's risk by fighting a known juicer and cheater. On the other hand, everyone will be lining up and chomping at the bit take on Walters because he is perceived as being mentally weak and lacking the necessary toughness to compete.

But idk, as much as Walters could come back, I don't know if he will come back to the level we thought he was at before

walters career shouldnt be damamged much at all. He jacked a fight, so what it happens, he was put in a position hed never been in before and he couldnt handle it, ran out of ideas and quit. People forget some of the other great performances hes put in. All it takes is for walters to put in a good performance in his next fight and it will probably all be forgotten about, people have short memories

Yeah, I think he'll be fine. The list of fighters who quit is a longer one than people realize. Roger Mayeeather quit against Chavez in the rematch. He wasn't getting killed. It wasn't live or die circumstances. Tszyu quit against Hatton. I don't remember Tszyu tottering on the verge of death. I mean, it happens and even to the best of them. And in the seventh round in his quit match, Loma was starting to kick his arse pretty hard. I didn't see him turning the tide of the fight. Maybe he isn't the James Toney who lost every round before cranking Michael Nunn, but so what? He can come back fine.

Walters can go in a KO streak and he will gain popularity again.

                      Povetkin is a cheat.

It depends on the gravity of the cheat or the quitter and Pove has damaged himself more
