I think Canelo-Lemieux would tell us a lot more before GGG-Canelo. But if Canelo can beat Saunders in February, fight Chavez in May, and GGG in September, that's a good schedule too. Canelo-Chavez is an underrated fight.

Canelo asked the WBO for ranking against Saunders for leverage against chavez. As soon as Sr comes out complaining that they want more money to fight Canelo news of him getting a mandatory shot against Saunders is released. Now chavez has to accept the money that he is offered by canelo or risk him passing on the fight to go grab Saunders belt. Saunders is plan B.

But even if canelo gets a signed contract with chavez they need to have weekly weight checkup and a backup fight on standby because you are right chavez has missed weight so many times. Just earlier this year threw away a title shot at 168 after he faked a injury to pull out the jack fight just days after reports and pictures came out that he was 200lbs weeks before the fight.

... it would be pointless: in case Jr doesn't follow the required weight loss schedule, they can't scrap the fight (once they already sold the tickets)...
