Is Oscar planning to use Floyd to let Canelo duck GGG until 2018?

GGG-Canelo could have been made September 2015, last May, last September, or next May. Instead, whether Oscar knew this ahead of time or not, it seems Oscar has picked the one month, September 2017, for the fight to happen where Floyd might come back to fight Manny.

What happens if Floyd wants the Manny rematch for September 2017, on the Mexican holiday date? In a sane world the answer would be simple, just move GGG-Canelo to later in the month, or October. However, I can already see it happening where Oscar argues that to maximize the GGG-Canelo PPV, it needs to happen on a Mexican holiday, which means waiting nine more months until May 2018.

Do you think Tom Loeffler has considered this could happen? Do you think it's been Oscar's plan all along? Because from the outside I always assumed Floyd-Manny would happen May 2017, so there wouldn't have been any conflict. But now it seems like Floyd isn't fighting Manny in May, so it could be September. If so, what happens to GGG-Canelo?

I don't see Floyd fighting Manny again. The hype is gone.

I don't think this will happen even if Oscar planned it because it's always been my gut feeling that Mayweather will fight the winner of Golovkin vs Canelo (Golovkin) as his 50th. I'm not saying that's been his plan all along, but I think that's how it'll all work out.

          So, two things...

          1) Oscar claimed that the plan is for Canelo to fight 3 times in 2017. So conceivably, we could have him fight Jr, Saunders and then end the year with a showdown with GGG. As unlikely as that may be, it would be nice after he virtually took a few fights off to fight subpar opposition. Of course, I don't trust anything Oscar says, so I'm skeptical.

          2) Floyd isn't coming back, at least in my opinion. Next year, he'll be 40, and 2 years removed from competitive boxing. Dude has stated at least a million times that he's retired. Let the dude enjoy his retirement.

Besides, Oscar and Canelo don't need May v Pac 2 as a reason to swerve GGG. I just hope Canelo goes on another run like he did post Mayweather, and fights tougher opposition, GGG included.

He stated the exact same thing over and over during his last stint in retirement in 2007-09 as well...

Sure, but he was 30. Now he's nigh on 40. I think that's a major factor personally.

I don't think so. The September date has always been a good date for Mexican boxers to fight Mayweather insists he is retired.

                  You hope.

Golovkin better take that 15 mil and fight Canelo.

Maybe not in that manner, but every time he gives an interview he uses Floyd, "we're not gonna wait so long like Floyd-Pacquiao, that fight wast 6 years too late...Canelo is ready for the biggest challenges....the Golovkin fight is coming soon" - same lines since the start of 2015.

I think Floyd meant to return, but no lucrative payday emerged so he's sat out longer than he'd anticipated and probably isn't coming back now. You gotta remember he said, "I started rumors about a McGregor fight," that's the only fight he was interested in. Pacquiao's fight schedule revolves around Senate breaks, he's probably not even available for September.
