i did the metrics and he's only worth 28.73% of the split. but if you put omar "the businessman" chavez on the undercard that split jumps to 32.65%. but if canelo counters with ramon "im canelos brother" alvarez the split goes back down to 27.59% its all a numbers game. this is high speed chess folks.

This is the same issue that held up the GGG fight, Team Canelo not wanting to offer percentages.

Not sure how much the fight will generate, but lets say 100m, then a 70/30 split would be 30m for JCC Jr, 70m for Canelo.

100m is the amount a Canelo/GGG fight was estimated to generate, and Canelo/JCC is likely a bigger fight monetarily (although not in boxing terms) because of the Mexican face-off angle and JCC Jr's name.

Just think about it for a second, if Canelo fought a no-name, the total revenue wouldn't likely exceed 70m. Part of the equation that would make the fight such a big one monetarily is the JCC name and his Mexican nationality, which allows for it to be marketed as a Mexican showdown.

If Team Canelo can't see this and offer 30%, and see this a fair split (their guy getting a whopping 70% of a huge gate), then something's wrong with GBP.

Same with the GGG fight where the 100m figure was estimated. In that case GGG was reputedly asking for 40%, instead GBP tried a 15m flat fee (15%) plus an unspecified extra.

If GBP would loosen up a bit we would start to see these fights getting made.

ps. maybe add a penalty of 10% for every pound JCC OR Canelo comes in overweight, then watch JCC meet the weight no problem !

I think 30-35 is reasonable. Even though Jr hasn't done much lately he still has the Chavez name and fighting Canelo would be a huge Mexican showdown. Canelo is mos def A Side, but his numbers would be boosted a lot higher fighting Jr. Team Chavez offer is not absurd.
