The Cotto deal involves far more than boxing; rather than talks of simply signing a fighter; Roc Nation Sports and Miguel Cotto Promotions formed a partnership, where Roc Nation would co-promote 3 fights of Miguel Cotto with Miguel Cotto Promotions and Miguel Cotto Promotions would end up co-promoting shows (seemingly largely music concerts) with Roc Nation Sports in Puerto Rico.

Though there is a lot of information that isn't available, there's enough out there for one to figure that the deal has worked out better for Roc Nation than folks want to admit.
I agree with this statement 100% It's weird to me that people on these boards attack the business acumen of self made millionaires (via multiple business ventures). Putting on cost effective fights isn't rocket science, if you have strong financial backing. This isn't real estate development lol

Cotto had a good run and resume so it makes sense for him to retire. Not too many guys will retire saying they were in the ring with Floyd, Pac, and Alvarez. At the end of the day no one can say he fought subpar opponents majority of his career. Hope he ends with a big win.

Here is Broner's quote ho "It is what it is, because at the end of the day, I felt disrespected,” he said. “If you’re gonna come to me and tell me that I’m gonna fight two times a year, getting $8 million a year for five years straight? You got me ****ed up.” 4 million a fight ho. More than triple he gets nowadays and more than double he got back then ho. Take a picture trick
In 5 year's time, pending any injuries or ****ups, Adrien Broner will fight more than 10 times under the structure that he's currently working with.

Adrien Broner fought three times in 2015, once in 2016 (arguably a ****up year), and is opening his 2017 with a fight in February (opening the calendar for three fights in 2017)

3 in 2015, 1 in 2016 (3 in 2017, 3 in 2018, and 3 in 2019) would give Broner a seeming ceiling of 13 fights with Haymon, versus a contracted 10 fights with Roc Nation.

Counting the coming February fight, About Billions Promotions has had a hand in Broner's last 4 fights, and will likely have a hand/lead in the rest of Broner's fights for as long as he fights.

With Broner always a couple of stellar performance away from being on that cusp of being box office, Broner is betting on his own upside as a fighter (with an extra 3 fights likely in play) for his prime years.

5 fights into his "to heck with Roc Nation" run, Broner has earned $6m (plus whatever other revenues that came through About Billions Promotions on his events). He gets by that fight, Burns-Malignaggi happens in April, and Broner is lined up for a big fight for the early Summer (both fights likely happen in Brooklyn, with Broner-Malignaggi II drawing more local interest and Burns-Broner drawing checks in the US and UK).

Broner gets by that fight, picks up his old WBA belt, and things are set for a PPV event with Terrence Crawford (with Broner taking the lion's share of the money) [with Kovalev-Ward having done near $11m, it should be expected that Broner-Crawford is likely a more marketable fight].

Whether he's good enough to win the fight is on him, but Broner could end 2017 having had 7 fights since the Roc Nation offer, and easily $13m in purses (plus whatever other money that'd come through his co-promotion).

Broner wins the Crawford fight, and he's a PPV fighter promoting his own fight cards; he loses the fight, and he grinds through the rest of those prime fights on TV.

Let the man bet on himself

Is Cotto still big even without a proper dancing partner? Don't have clue why Roc is treating him like he's some PPV prince or something. Or Roc basically just love throwing away millions of dollars? What's the catch? Showtime aims to gain subscribers and don't mind throwing away truckloads of money. What about Roc? What do they gain?

Roc nations has a dozen sponsors for their shows. Haymon has 2 lol. He would have already made more money and their would have been clauses for ppv fights. He couldn't beat Chino or Porter. Crawford would murk him in 8 or less. Be real. What has he ever done above 135 pounds??? Horrible business move. Whatever crumbs haymon has paid him he's already broke. He's never had big purses. Being real here. Stop trying to justify a bad business move

Roc nation needs to get out of the sport, been in it a few years and haven't made a nickel..

Taking a bath on every ward n cotto fight.. roc nation needs to be agents/advisors and not promoters
