And I'm not saying they're "afraid" but both of them now know for a fact that these rematches will be very difficult and that there's a good chance they will lose

he's also floating out a threat of retirement

he also lost according to most pundits and fans [that figh twas close, but most had him losing.]

completely different scenarios. ward got f#cking paid to fight kovalev. career high payday and then some. hard to tell if RN even made money.

i don't fault him for trying to negotiatemore. he almost certainly will get more. but floating out retirement like this is just absurd, and lends credence to the idea that he's not all that confident in his win over kovalev. i'd understand moving on to another opponent, but talking retirement? that's not something the guy who thinks he's the LHW champion of the world does.

if you listen to the rhetoric from ward and his camp it's very obvious that there's a good deal of doubt surrounding the win. kovalev's, too.

      Keep 'em coming.
Rashue sucks bro. That's what's wrong with boxing dude couldn't win a meaningful Olympic fight and now he's a champion too many belts!. If Warren fights any of the other champs he gets sparked out

It's easy for boxingscene.com experts like you to decide how much a fighter makes, you're not the one who's put in years of hard work, years of sacrifice and you're definitely not the one getting punched in the face.

You do know a fighter usually ends up with no more than 30/35% of their initial purse? So Gonzalez got no more than 130/140k of his 400k purse against Cuadras, in a very exciting fight in which he took a lot of damage. So of course he deserves more money.
OK,here are a few reasons why you guys are wrong..Ward got paid more because rocnation gave him more and that is really cool, but that fight didnt make any money,if anything it might lost some, but the problem here is that Ward have a rematch clause and according to people(and it makes sense) everything was stipulated in the contract, like how much each fighter would get paid,I in fact believe it because ward knew there was the possibility of losing. You cannot sign a contract and later change or modify the clause unless both parties agree,we all, know ward and his managment do that(hence him being out for few years)..Now for chocolatito,he is right to ask for more money, but how much more is fair?believe it or not,he is not well known, and if you go by numbers, hopkins got more views and bigger gate, has a 20+ carreer plus 20 defenses and he got paid 800K..makes sense?..The problem is the haymon/rocnation way of doing business, theyare making the fighters more money hungry but without bringing any revenue.

Ward got paid what his promoter was willing to pay him, regardless of if you think it's too much or not. Me personally, I got no problem with fighters making some extra money as long as it's against top opposition, which Kovalev is. I don't agree with giving these guys 1m payday to fight cans, but if it's against quality opponents, pay them well.

Anyway, if Ward got 5m to fight Kova the first time around (again, regardless of whether you think that's too much or not), why wouldn't he ask for more in a rematch? He won the fight, took the belts, so he's entitled to ask for more. These retirement talks are just a negotiation tactics, Ward will fight Kovalev again, he has never avoided a tough fight, no reason to believe that will change.

Also we don't know what it said in the contract, if everything was written in stone, I'm sure Main Events/Duva would be looking to take Ward to court for breaching the contract. I don't believe what all these agenda-ridden journalists say, only Ward's team and Kovalev's team know the terms of the contract.

And with Chocolatito, he's not demanding crazy cash, probably only wants a few hundred thousand more, which is very reasonable considering all the work he's put in and everything he's achieved.

Ward just fought for $5M in an event that lost a ton of money and is talking about retirement.

Chocolatito fought for $400K while headlining an HBO telecast and is not talking about retirement.

The two have absolutely nothing in common.

You beat him once, you can beat him again. That's simple logic. Why not make more money in the process?
The money issue has to be aired and ironned out....posters look like fools calling 2 undefeated, multi division champions cowards when its guys hyped to the heavens who haven't been in tough like these 2....both are in the last quarter of their careers...
This is PRIZEfighting....money is the motive

Look at the OPs avatar. He's completely biased comparing Ward and Canelo fighting at their natural weight with GGG fighting two weight classes higher.

Ward may feel he has a chance to make more, and is trying to leverage his position. If he would have lost the decision, he'd be more motivated to take what he could.

Just because you say the use thing everyday does not make it true....kovalev lost bro...all those videos on YouTube and twitter scorecards n it's not most people lol

Come back to earth n leave fantasyland

Dude is not gonna retire with big $ fights looming...ever heard of mind games? He basically is saying to Duva, you guys need me more than I need you....pay me....not the first fighter to bring up retirement after a huge fight bro n won't be the last
