It's crazy that Showtime are where they were at 5 years ago numbers wise, after Floyd and all the money they've splashed elsewhere too.
HBO's numbers aren't great either. But they're not as terrible as I thought they'd be given the decline in their budget.
2011 & 2012 by comparison - http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=560662
I don't know man
Look at those 2011 & 2012 numbers
HBO avg like 1.2 -1.3 for a fight now I bet if you did the avg for 2016 it's somewhere in the neighbourhood of 800k for the main events
They've lost at least 1/3 of their audience in 4 years that's not goodComment

Better fights too though. The matchmaking alone has deteriorated alarmingly in the intervening five years. And none of them on PPV.Comment

lol I cant believe you actually had to explain that to him. Both are usually extras on a cable subscription. They can be bundled in different ways so you may have gotten HBO with your particular package. Often I see packages that have either neither or both, or you can order them directly in addition to your cable package.Comment

Alot of blow back from 2015.
Showtime took a lot of scrap fights in 2015 with the better fights going to NBC/Spike/CBS/Fox.
With HBO, the budget kept alot of guys on the shelf, but also alot of would-be opponents for their star fighters were tied away to the PBC. In the past, Showtime never had so many fighters tied up that it limited HBO's fights.Comment

The Golovkin/Brook fight for HBO and Joshua fights for Showtime being in the middle of the day are making the list look a little strange because I'm sure they would've been towards the very top of the list if they were normal U.S. Boxing time fights at night here.
Still this list does clearly show that HBO fights draw more eyes than Showtime fights do.Comment

hbo has more boxing fan subscribers by far they have more subscribers but the real number would be i bet they have literally a good 4 or 5 times more boxing fan subscribers then showtime. now if showtime keeps it up like they are now those numbers will get closer together but most people can only afford one not both and most pick hbo. trying to compare the ratings is a bit ridiculous honestly. if hbo keeps making the majority of their content ppv tho their boxing subscriber numbers will shrinkComment
