What you consider a good faith offer by Golden Boy may not be considered a good faith offer by team GGG. If GGG gets 10 million and Canelo makes 3 to 5 times that much money maybe they don't think that offer is so wonderful. Why is Oscar so set on a flat fee? In fights like this a percentage split is often done. If they offered GGG a fair split of the money available for the boxers like 60/40 or 65/35 in Canelo's favor the fight would probably get made. GGG would make much more than 10 million bucks. Let's see how much money Chavez will accept to fight Canelo if that fight happens.
Anyone else feels they over marinated Canelo Golovkin already?

Why is Canelo a circus fighter?I don't see excitement about this fight like there was months before. I think the whole Canelo-Chavez jr conversation didn't help either. Canelo is now a circus fighter with 100% interest in money and 0% interest in showing he's the best MW.
We don't even know if the fight will happen next year and unless both Canelo and Golovkin win early next year by KO, I don't see much excitement or interest. It's like both have moved to better things.
I'm one of those who say that this is the biggest fight in boxing, but the interest lately has decreased. I could assure six months ago that it would make 1.25 million PPVs, now I see it in the 650-750k range, unless they can somehow renew the hype.

I don't think so. As long as they keep talking about it for September, everyone will get pumped up for it this summer if it's signed. In the meantime if Canelo gets Chavez and GGG beats Jacobs that's a good start. Someone needs to rip that strap off Saunders though before they meetComment

Then September won't be the date. More like December luckily. If there's a BJS fight in the middle for Golovkin or Canelo. And sounds like they would move it to 2018 if that happens. Another year. Now Golovkin at 36 years old...I don't think so. As long as they keep talking about it for September, everyone will get pumped up for it this summer if it's signed. I Hope canelo can fight BJS in may and then golovkinComment

Well if GGG comes through March 18 without injury he could fight Saunders in June then Canelo in Sept. he's fought 4 times before in a year a few months apart. They need to make the fight for all the titles , it would just add that history to it on top of it being just a blockbuster eventComment

I think it could still make good money but for me, the activity is the problem. Both only fought twice this year and while Canelo has some random, he should be in front of people more often, as should GGG. To me, the whole idea of marinating is ludicrous. If it's a great fight on paper, make it. The ratings will come.I don't see excitement about this fight like there was months before. Thats why the UFC is booming right now. They make the fights that need to happen instantly. In boxing it seems like any decent fight takes months and months and sometimes years of *****footing around to make. They over marinate everything worthwhile in boxing these days. Or there is no marination at all with other fights that happen while they are trying to marinate the fight they want to sell every single PPV buy they can possibly suck out of consumers.
Its such a destructive dynamic to the sport overall & turning off so many hardcore fans + distancing the casuals who would come to the sport more often if interesting things happened more often, but everyone in the boxing business is about money & not the sport these days.Comment
