there was no money/rewards on the line in that fight. how can you compare them? it wasn't televised, no one knew who kovalev was, etc...when you put something on the line oh woops all 3 judges screwed up, all 3 gave the 10th to ward woops again, just a lot of "mistakes" going round

I just watched the fight again on tv and scored it and it really could have gone either way. I had it a point for Ward but I know it can easily have been given to Kovalev by a point or two. You have to watch the fight and not be swayed by unofficial judge Harold Lederman's scorecard, as he clearly favours the aggresive fighter but he doesn't always notice effective aggresion and punches. Kovalev clearly is a more powerful puncher than Ward but perhaps he should have shown less respect for Ward's power and gone for the knock out. The rounds were so difficult to score from round three or four onwards. Hopefully a rematch gets made.

come on man..Kovalev's argument is "I'm not American, he is..for that simple fact I was robbed"..but where was that bias when Boone dropped him? and Duva doesn't even agree with that stance, I mean why would she put her cash cow in that position.. anyway I agree the 10th round is a Kovalev round..but Lederman giving the 9th to Kovalev is just as laughable.

Agree. I think he's trying a little too hard to make everyone believe that he won. Just watched the fight again. Sorry but Ward got the nod but it was gifted to him. Early Xmas present. If they meet again Kovalev better learn how to close the show or we might see the same outcome particularly if it's in Vegas.
